Just got back from checkup! Amazing vet nurse, she used to work at Manor vets which is a specialist exotic vets. Held him lovely managed him super well. Gavin has said okay to being put on our vet list!
His wounds look beautiful, if that's the right word lol. So neat and clean and looking good! He's a bit skinny looking but nothing remotely shocking looking. Still looks less skinny than when he first came back, the indents are much less severe. Eating fine of course and drinking.
Teeth wise, it's £18.50 to have them burred under anaesthetic and she doesn't think Kev will let them do it without anaesthetic as he's too wiggly. They are long again, but she said that for all the months at p@h he was there as an adoption case, they never ever touched his teeth so, they didn't grow hideously long, just as long as they were. Which they are now, so I'm just guessing he has longer teeth than normal, but not "problem teeth". But £18.50 is affordable anyway, I just don't wanna put him under anaesthetic too often, although he did fine. So maybe a once or twice a year thing if no other problems occur sooner!
But yay all good news! He doesn't have to go back unless something happens! ☺️

Great, glad he is doing well £18.50 for teeth burring under anaesthetic is very cheap, so at least you know you have affordable treatment if he needs it. I agree you need to wait and see with his teeth. If his molars are OK, then it might just be that he naturally has long looking front teeth, could even be to do with the way the soft tissue is that makes them look long. Once he gets over the castration, and you start getting his diet how you want it, you can pay special attention to look for any issues with eating, and hopefully you won't see any. If you could put the vet details in the vet thread I'll add them to the chart. From watching Flossie's tooth that sometimes splits, I reckon the front teeth grow about 1mm a day.

Oh right! Quite a lot then (re teeth growing).
Yeah I thought it was cheap too! Not complaining.
Yeah I think his teeth must just look long, because they weren't growing out of control for the five months he was there eating a crud diet.
I'll put their details in there in a sec x I'm really pleased with them and chuffed they're so good so I have someone super close to rely on with my now five in total degus lol! Xx

So I've made a note in my diary for the date that makes it 7 weeks since Kev had his castration. I know it's 6 weeks but I want to do 7 to be sure. 3rd of May he can meet the girls properly!!!
I might be in a new flat by then too! 😱
