I would think that if he's hidden the food you're giving him, it indicates that he is interested in eating it, just not now, which is a better sign than if he just ignored it. Probably still feeling the effects of the anesthesia, and his poor disturbed belly, quite a day for him. Gnawing on the nut is good, keeping him still, keeping him involved in something, helping adjust to his new teeth size, and when he gets inside it, some good high calorie nut to eat.
Sounds like he's doing well, considering what he went through today. And he's got you taking the best care of him. Now, how are you doing? Relax a little, he's doing fine, and you're doing great for him. And if need be, you have all of us to help you.

How's the patient this morning? Try some smooth blended veg soup, for you I mean lol!, sweet potato, baby salad leaves (no bitter ones), beans, are all pretty unoffensive. I really struggled with veg as a kid and was labelled a fussy eater, but it turned out that I just like different veg to my parents, I mean boiled carrots, overboiled cabbage .

Lol!
I'll definitely have a try. I can eat veg I just choose not to lol. I like veg on a Sunday dinner! But that's really the extent of my veg eating experiences.
Okay so I had to go to uni today (round of applause here please). Forced myself to go. Did Kev's snugglesafe before I went which made me late and I had to run up the station hill 😩. There was food on the snugglesafe so I think he has been trying to eat.
Just got in. Removed loads of his food. I don't like clear out their old food then put new down. Just put new down every day because obviously most forage is still all good for a while. It's not damp in here so.
Anyway I removed all of Kev's so that I can see if he's eating. Found the buried hazelnut and gave it him and he's been trying to get that for a few minutes. Seems a lot more awake today lol. He makes an odd noise when he eats I've noticed, hard things such as nuggets or nuts. Not a bad noise, but my other lot all eat silently, except for nosing around. His teeth are really noisy against the hard stuff. Imagine biting something hard with your mouth wide open, really fast, it makes a noise. That's the noise he makes when eating. Almost like a loud version of teeth chattering. He's trying very hard to open this hazelnut but he can't do it. But it's good because at least he's keen on eating something. He seems to like peanuts too, but they're really fatty so.
Not doing the mush food thing until I think he's really not eating because he just doesn't understand it and walks through it and leaves foot prints everywhere lol.
Sunken in sides look much improved too.

No sleeping on the snugglesafe this afternoon! Jesus he's like hyper. He's buried his hazelnut and keeps coming and checking it's still buried and pushes more food on top of it 😂. Running around the place. Doesn't have access to the bottom level still though. Just want to see him eat.

He's eating! I can't see what and I don't wanna go look and startle him. But he is.

Sounds good! Pamper him for a couple of days with the peanuts and whatever he likes best. He can go back to responsible food after that. Like letting a sick kid have ice cream for lunch, because, well, they're sick.

Okay! He seems to bury the nuts though lol. But I'll just keep giving him things he seems to eat. He's running around like a looney and I'm sat here like *cringing* waiting for a disaster lol. Climbing up the mesh of the cage, I tried to prevent it by covering everywhere with cardboard last night, he pulled it all down within minutes. 🙈 I just don't wanna watch lol!

Fantastic news, sounds like your vet is excellent, think my old vet did a bad job of my 2 boys which is why I found a new vet! Think the snugglesafe did a good job last night and soothed his sore belly. Sounds like he is back to trying to swoon all the ladies lol, sooo excited to find out how they react to him, although you are going to see things you just don't want to see rofl.

Mate Kev is being a mentalist. I blocked off the bottom layer as best I could. Using those wooden things all stacked. He's dragged it off and slipped down. Six times because I've moved it back. I've removed it altogether so he can go down because I'd rather him go down their safely than squeeze and catch himself. His wheel is in there but I've jammed it so it can't move. Honestly he's being mental. Climbing the sides going mad. I'm like NOOOO STOP!!! But I can't stop him. Done his bed nice and hot and he's ignoring it. He's downstairs talking to Poppy.

Honestly he's being crazy. He's gone in his hanging coconut and he's never been in there in his life.

I think that sounds really good, he can't be in too much pain if he is running around. Some post op boys are just really limp and beaten up for 2 or 3 days hardly wanting to move at all. I think you did the right thing letting him have access to the other floor. Hopefully he will have a mad run around and then remember that he is a bit tired and sore and settle down on the heatpad again.
You could crush up some nuts for him and/or half file a way into the hazel nut.

I crushed some peanuts but he hides those bits too.
I have tried everything to get into a hazelnut. Stabbing it with a knife (cut myself so abandoned that plan, shameful I used to be a chef and never cut myself ever). But I did make a tiny hole he can probably get his teeth into so, I gave it him back lol.
Yeah he seems like a spring chicken! I was worried I'd come home to find him crying in pain. Just got a maniac instead! Thanks for the support guys! It's so nice x x
Winic that made me laugh out loud! It's so true! He must have been warbling to Poppy saying "I've lost my knackers but I'm still a handsome guy, don't you agree? Poppy?.. Poppy..?" And she just looks at him like "O___O" a bit terrified lol!
