You did everything you could, I'm glad you had good support from Bouncy and the vet, and that she slipped away peacefully. Still such a shock, she was a lovely goo.

She was a larger than life character, I miss seeing her kipping on the wheel, and the way she used to trap Sphene in the catch-a-goo-tube because she insisted on charging straight in there, before Sphene had a chance to come out, after any sunflower seeds that had been left.

Are Sphene and Little Amber adjusting OK? And how are you doing, Savvy?
I must say it's been lovely to see your photos recently, did you get a new camera or phone?

I worked out how to edit them to reduce the size so I could post them, lol.
They seem to be doing ok at the moment, it may sound strange, but they've been better since her ashes were returned. As the photos show, it hasn't stopped them eating.
I'm still numb, breaking into tears a lot, but trying to stay busy. It really hits me when I accidentally grab four handfuls of forage instead of three.

It's so hard, especially with the reminders all through the day like the forage, sending hugs.
I'm finding keeping busy but with easy things is helpful, I've even dug out a jigsaw.

Savvy . . . I wish I knew how to put words to my heart. If I could hug you, you would hear them.

Just at the vets (Wendy's) with Sphene and Little Amber.
Both are now on baytril, Sphene as a precaution, and Little Amber both as a precaution and because she has a sore spot on her lip which has been bleeding a bit.

This is it, we don't know, so we're taking all necessary precautions and Little Amber needs antibiotics for her lip anyway. It was Annabel we saw today, who's been looking after Little Amber's teeth for a while now. Little Amber likes her and is quite willing to be held, examined and even have her teeth done by her. Sphene is a bit more of a handful, but eventually tolerates it.
Anyway, both have clear chests which is a plus and we agreed that as Ruby was diabetic, there were underlying issues to begin with. But with the ladies, time will tell.

Thank goodness for kind and skillful vets and tolerant degus. It sounds like a good plan, I hope you are a bit reassured.

Little Amber is quite good at being messed with so to speak, she takes her meds without any fuss (even the ones which taste nasty) and will eat quite willingly from a small spoon, she just views being caught as a bit of a game.
I do think that a proactive vet is a must, especially with degus.

Arrived today. It was the closest to a wheel I could find.

I'm so so sorry for your loss, Savvy. That's a beautiful place for her, love that you were able to find something close to a wheel. And the etching is gorgeous.
I'm glad your vet is on board with being proactive. Best thoughts for your little girls, hope the lip injury is nothing to worry about.

Lovely and very appropriate, the etching of the goo is so good.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts, Ruby won't be forgotten; her ashes currently reside beside Dixie's and I'll transfer them to the urn in the next couple of days.
If anyone is interested, the urn came from etsy UK.
