Would you like me to see if anyone can help with transport on the facebook group?

Yes please! If not I can book a taxi but I'd rather not have to. I'm happy to contribute towards petrol, pay tunnel fees etc.

OK, I've had a look on the group, you can contact them via email direct on helpnorthtyneside@gmail.com Might be simpler if you email them rather than going through me. Let me know if you want me to contact them on facebook as well.

They've replied on fb to say to contact North Tyneside VODA on 0345 2000 101 or contact.us@northtyneside.gov.uk So I'm not sure how promising that sounds They are some kind of volunteer coordination group.

VODA are the ones who said no originally. The number is a council one and they've just pointed me towards VODA.
I'll PPE up and grab a taxi.

OK, that's a bummer, I've asked if they have anyone else who could help. The group seems pointless if they just direct you to the council

Someone has said they could have taken him after 1.30 but not brought him back, which granted isn't much use but perhaps someone else will come through with a decent offer of help, I'll keep checking and let you know.

The person I mentioned before has made a definite offer to take Dixie in the afternoon, but not bring him back, if that was any use.
Somebody else has said that Ayres vets in North Shields see degus, probably no use but thought I'd pass it on.
Somebody else has said they have shared my post to Bryson's Shelter in the hopes a nice pet person might be able to help.

Thanks Moletteuk, Ayres vets are the ones he's been to over the weekend. They will see degus, but haven't seen them before if that makes sense. That's why he was shown around the staff.
I've provisionally booked at taxi to get us there just in case no one can help, but can always cancel.

It annoys me when people say they won't help because the health of an animal isn't important enough. If they're not, vets and pet stores wouldn't have been included on the list of vital businesses at the start of lockdown! I hope you and Dixie manage to get there tomorrow safely

No more responses on fb, I'll check in the morning but I'm sorry it's not looking promising.
