Thanks Molette, I appreciate it. It definitely was unexpected.
I'm honestly hoping this is the issue. He dropped a gran from yesterday, which I know means nothing. Not sure how long I would expect it to take for him to recover if it is a sugar issue.
Also not 100% sure when I should make the call to try to get into the vets office. Turns out he does tend to be a bit of a yo-yo when it comes to weight (had bounced between 285 to 227g before this) but this is the lowest (216g) and I believe the longest around this weight. But its also been the most eventful few months he's experienced with me.

I'm so sorry about that out of the blue . . . grief sucker punch as Moletteuk very aptly says . . . they are so painful! Sending you hugs, Hpdegus! It's really hard when a fresh surge of loneliness and grief rises like that.

Tom, whom I love, is ridiculous! Apparently he only eats whole sunflower seeds now. Turns his nose up at any that are even slightly damaged, haha!

Oh pardon me, an exception is made if his brother Q is trying to eat the imperfect seeds!

Fussy little gits, aren't they! My lot won't eat normal sunflower seeds now, they just turn their noses up. It must be the giant ones in shells that I get from out here (Cyprus). If I try to make their lives easier and shell them because they've just had a dental, it's like I've blasphemed in the worst possible way!

He's a sassy one! He sits in my hand for transportation from cage to play area, as well as my lap to the ground. If I don't move at an adequate speed he (gently) nips my palm!

Ohhhh, I've been upgraded to butler! I thought I was just an escalator, hahaha.

Well . . . you do realize that a BUTLER is really just the male version of a mother, except that he gets paid for all his work. (Ironing, laundering, scheduling, food prep, table setting, social calendar, driving, etc. YEP . . . a male mother.) I've been thinking about my above comment . . . I think you should run with the butler thing, and should open negotiations for payment!

My payment is their exclusive affection (unless someone randomly wanders in and offers treats. Then I'm dirt, hahaha).

I gave Tom some painkillers on the 10th and 11th since he looked like he was waddling more than normal. His weight dropped on the 11th, held, then dropped a little today as well (was 163g now at 156g). I also started supplemental feeding of critical care on the 11th, so it could be that I screwed up his schedule? I should know better, it just worried me a bit since that was the lowest I've seen him in a while.

SO . . . you are thinking he dropped weight because you gave him the pain meds?

Possibly? I believe metacam can depress appetite. Mainly just wanted to write this down so I would remember!

That's strange! All of mine have their appetites pick up with a slug of Metacam, because it makes them feel normal.
I'd mention it to the vet.

I truly am a butler! Tom has been jumping on my lap, taking a treat, then promptly springboarding from my palm to go racing around the floor again, haha.

Just wait until you find out the tactics if you don't serve fast enough - they certainly make your life difficult!

Ok, I think this is beyond adorable. Once Tom has had his fill of sunflower seeds during playtime, he still jumps onto my lap to demand treats (as is only his due). Instead of eating them, he'll take the seed before riding my hand/escalator to the floor. He then promptly looks for the perfect seed hiding place. After gently depositing the treat on the floor he then does the super cute hand scooping gesture to "cover" the treat with... air?

Yep! The mad digging on a hard surface (like tiles), placing of the treasure in plain sight, then the blur of hands whilst saying "abracadabra!" to make it invisible to the competition who, ironically, only find it if they walk over it and it gets stuck between their toes
