Comparable . . . well . . . ISH . . . to the child with chocolate all over their face that very "innocently" denies having eaten any in recent memory.

Let's face it, a degu asleep on their back with four paws in the air is up there too

I've been saying abracadabra whenever Tom does the thing and it always makes my day Thanks Bouncy! Also, I've never really gotten to enjoy the all feet in the air pose! It happens rarely here and I usually freak out and check that everyone is alive (waking them up in the process)

I admit to freaking out when Scaredygoo fell asleep on his side once, with all four legs stuck straight out, but you can almost always see them breathing when they're on their backs. You'll have to practice tiptoeing;)
Loving the abracadabra!

Love the Abracadabra too! I am also hearing Tommy Cooper saying "Just like that!" too though, probably only my age and older Brits are going to have a clue about that.
Mine NEVER slept on their backs with legs in the air.

"Just like that!" - ooh, that's a favourite!
Don't forget the "ooooh, I could crush a grape!"
Ooh, and the alternative to abracadabra "Piff Paff Poof"

Discovered a strange lump on Q's lower lip on the 19th. I thought it was something stuck since it didn't look like a normal lump at all. I was able to remove it fairly easily, turned out it absolutely was skin. My vet isn't too concerned about this after seeing pictures, said I could monitor and bring him in if it grows back. I just wanted to see if anyone's seen anything like this? photos.app.goo.gl/eiWcnVmUoxDVTxPP7 It was almost like a wart (papilloma?). So we'll see. I don't think I have a thread for them, but Padfoot (top goo of the Marauders) reopened a tail wound given to him by Fred 4.5 years ago. Also hoping it heals ok while I'm away.

What a weird looking cluster . . . almost looks like early stages to a baby! SO STRANGE looking! I have never seen anything like that.
I'm sorry Padfoot reopened an old tail wound. If I remember correctly, it didn't heal very quickly 4.5 years ago . . . but I could be thinking of another degu with a tail wound that was reluctant to close. I hope it will be completely healed when you are back home!

Sorry, forgot to reply, no, I haven't seen anything like that either. Hope all is well when you get back, also hope your trip was safe for you in the terrible weather.

Just wanted to update about the trip/goo sitter. My neighbor came by twice a day to dole out meds (so behind wonderful of her!) And she brought her sons with her (one at a time). Everyone had a blast, she says that the youngest cried when he heard I was coming back, wanted to spend more time with the goos

Well, Tom is slowly losing weight. Which is normal for this time of year, but he doesn't have much weight to lose. And since he's now missing several body parts (testes and most of his tail), I don't have a good handle on whether this is a normal drop or not.
I'll try calling the vet tomorrow to set up a Saturday appointment (most likely weeks out) and try to feed him up on critical care. If that doesn't work I'll see if I can get an earlier appointment. I should have tried to get him in today as well but I wasn't thinking.
He's happy as ever, currently racing around the playpen with his weird waddle-walk.

Tom's appointment is tomorrow afternoon with the new vet who saw Mooney on Monday. He's gained a small amount on the critical care, not much, but I'm just glad he isn't losing weight. Not sure what I'm hoping for with this vet visit. Something we can fix? But it could just be age and his well-known issues with gaining weight. No matter what happens, he's a happy boy that is currently racing around the play area occasionally running into his brother

Tom was a very good (though squirmy) goo for the vet. Everyone kept saying how adorable he is (he's the favorite haha).
He actually peed and pooped during the visit so she was able to check his sugar/ketone/protein levels. Protein did show up (1+) but nothing else.
The vet said if it wasn't for his weight and his weird walk, she wouldn't say anything was wrong. She was able to take an unsedated x-ray, he also has a bit of spondylosis (which would explain the walk). I'll start metacam for that and see if it helps.
All in all, I'll continue to give CC and monitor. Vet seemed happy with his health given his age and rough start in life!

Reassuring that they gave him such a thorough examination. I guess it makes sense that some spondylosis would affect his gait.
My Molly had severe spondylosis, perhaps it's not that uncommon? The thing that made us aware of it was she started sitting out of the way on her own and heavy breathing, which was a pain response, something to bear in mind in the future, but hopefully you will get a good response to the metacam in both your boys.
