I feel like I have lost trust in the vets now.

Well, that is certainly a discovery! What happened in the surgery then if there were no testicles to remember? I guess it would have been a search, unexpected discovery of "no testicles," and then closure? Is she home now and how is she doing?

A bit of a shocker! I'm very interested to see a pic of her genitals. Hopefully we can give you an idea if she does look ambiguous and if maybe the vet does deserve the benefit of the doubt.
When I was into hamsters and active on a hamster forum, there was a case of a hamster who we suspected of being intersex. Unfortunately, I can't remember any of the details but I just wanted to throw it out there that it can occur. I suppose if the vet opened her up though, they should know if there was a fully formed uterus?
I wonder if you can find out if the male of the male and 2 females is dominant? You would need to extend the half shelves on the cage into full area shelves to have enough space for 4, and a basement extension is worth considering too.
Hope she recovers soon.

She is not that with it, she still isn't getting on her snuggle safe and wants lots of cuddles. They said they opened her up and couldn't find anything so closed her back up. I asked what the lumps were that they thought were testicals and they said it was fat, is 217g fat for a degu?
I will when she is a bit less lethargic as I don't want to stress her more. If I joined the two cages would that be enough? I will try and find a boy for her definitely though, I'm not giving up

The vet advised me to not let her use the wheel for a few days, I have sectioned off the top part of the cage for now, should I let her have the other floor and just take the wheel and any ledges out?

217 is not fat at all for a degu.. So they didn't tell you they saw a uterus? I don't get why they'd feel two firm balls of fat? Two cages joined together would work it just depends on how much space you're looking to sacrifice. Top part sounds good, no jumping around for a couple of days but once she seems a bit more with it then I'd give her access

I didn't think so either... not sure if that was just an excuse. And no they just said that there definitely was not any balls, I did ask to speak to the vet who performed the surgery but she said they were no longer there, she seems a lot better I'm gonna try and get a picture

Don't stress her too much for the pic on our account, we can wait until she is better.
Regarding the cage space, I would just avoid any awkward jumps. Heatpad might encourage her to rest.
Maybe you could phone tomorrow and try to get to speak to the vet. Did they charge you?

She's being very skittish so it's hard to take a picture. I shall try tomorrow and they charged me £16.5

No need to guilty face around here, you haven't topped me yet 😂 she's lovely! How is Dave getting on?
I was always coming on the forum with a "Oopsie" or "Whoops" thread with a new degu or chinchilla 😂😂😂 (most recently it was a kitten 🙄).
She's very pretty much like my Pickle!
Can you do me a favour when you've bonded well with her? Can you smell her please? I have this theory that heavily patched degus smell like aeroplane food.. 🤔😂 I'm so intrigued to know if she does!!!

This one is a boy and Dave (girl) loves him so much she cries for him to come back as soon as he leaves the other side of the bars. I got him from the adoption centre at pets at home like I did Dave so for the reason I am getting him sexed on Tuesday then if he is a dude he will go for neutering the same day, if he is a girl (which to me he looks like a boy but I also thought that about Dave so I'm not qualified at all) then the lady said as long as I have the receipt of adoption I can give Flash back but I don't think I could >.<
He is so confident! He let me hold him straight away, he is also way bigger then wee Dave. I'm not sure if he smells like aeroplane food but he has a very sweet scent, even his pee smells kinda okay. I shall smell him more and get back to you. He is the total opposite of Dave which is nice because I get the best of both worlds.
I never did hear back from Little Bites, I think she is just super busy

Only on here can we advise and talk about "smelling" our rodents, and carry on as though that is completely normal. LOVE IT!

I don't know, I go away for a bit and find all of this!
First up, I would get a clear shot of their bums and post them on here. To be so confident of a male goo, AND confident enough to do a neutering, it's quite unbelievable! It would be great to get the pictures up before your appointment.
Is it possible that Dave really is a Dave, but has already been snipped? If Dave is really Davina, it is worth keeping a close (weekly) eye on weight gain as an indication of possible pups.
Flash is a sweetie!

I have been trying so hard but to get a good look at Dave requires two hands so I might have to ask someone to help me take the picture. I did think he could of been done but then I thought would the vet not have noticed a scar? also after seeing how the vet held her I know how to get hold of her to look and I can see she does appear to be a girl with hardly any gap, I am just an idiot and never got a good enough look it seems as I was getting her to reach for a treat and looking that way which may have made the gap appear to be bigger?
They groom through the bars when the other is out of the cage which does make me think she is a girl and he is a boy as they seem to love each other (through the bars) but I have no experience so I could be totally wrong like last time. I got the manager to check flash to confirm he is a dude so if he isnt then... that's probably common for pets at home so they won't care
