I would put the third level back in eventually, I don't think there's a huge issue with the space he has for now, and he has lots of toys etc. Once you've got the degus and everything is happy days, I would then put the floor back in and we can think of ways to attach the cage. I'd definitely buy a bigger wheel when you can, you also need to think for the future so I'd buy a 5inch deep one and sort of 14-16 inch diameter so they can all use it together bigger is always better. I'd definitely message LB on Facebook. We feed ours treats through those hatches and have on several occasions not flipped the things round properly and the one morning we were sat in the living room and in scootles Pinky, sits on the rug, looks at me, squeaks to get my attention then I watch as she runs all the way back to the goo room lol! It's the other end of the apartment, through the lounge and kitchen and main hall, second hall then around a corner 😂 they'd been out all night lol!

Okay that's a relief, I will search for the screws for the third shelf. That's strange because on my phone the picture is the right way up, didn't mean to confuse everyone >.< and not sure if you guys can see but he has a line on his nose that is not usually there but because of the bar chewing it has appeared which is what is making me so concerned.
Luckily (or not) my brother got sent home so I've been home with him most of the day so he's been out for longer then usual so he's pretty sleepy, is it normal for degus to get tired after being out of the cage?

I bet they have little parties when you are out 😂
Yes I definitely will, I have requested to join Little Bites group as I can't see any other way of contacting them on Facebook (I only use Facebook for work so I am clueless)

Joining the group was the right thing to do once you get approved just put a message up and somebody should contact you! The line on the nose could just be moulting, it happens a lot with mine that it starts as a band on the nose and travels up towards their back

I spoke with Little Bites and they were lovely, the lady did say it is possible he may just not get on with other Degus as she has several she can not find pairs for but she says she has way more success with neutering, I am going to visit her Sunday to have a look at some she has (she has over a hundred, what a saint she is) as I really want to see if younger males would work as she said that it could be an option. I said I'd like to get a pair as at least if they don't like Dave they still have each other but then she said sometimes two females will get possessive of the male (I think Dave would be quite the ladies man) so I'm still pretty unsure, I'm just hesitant to get him done still.

I'd try two males first. It's extremely rare to find a degu who can't stand other degus - it's usually just people that fail with committing to intros - not the other way around x

That's excellent! Peggy is extremely helpful, and I'm sure she'll help you and Dave in every way she can. If you have a carry case, I would also take Dave with you

Oh sorry if I said it was today in my post, we are meeting tomorrow afternoon, I am still unsure about taking Dave, will it not stress him out?

It might stress him a little, but most degus travel quite well, some don't bat an eyelid at all. Have you got a decent travel box? The advantage of taking him is if there is enough time, there may be a possibility of doing a couple of 'through bars' meetings to maybe get a little idea of who might be a good match for him. If you aren't sure you could contact Peggy and ask if she thinks this will be possible tomorrow.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am going to try to separate this thread into two individual posts. We have sort of departed from the original, our sincere apologies Davethedegu, and it is getting difficult to follow, at time, what is being addressed. Clearsparkle, I will title your dedicated thread under your name, OK?

So we resechduled because Peggy had a lot on today and I did not want to make her feel pressured about me coming, I told her to text me whenever is most convinent for me to come over.
I went to pets at home just to pick up a few bits to get the cage ready and they had two young males and they were so curious. I managed to pull myself away and get what I needed.

It's VERY dangerous! You get your first goos and decide that's it. You have more than enough to cope with.
Then you go to shop for something, or see a rescue site. Poor little things, you think. They're so cute! And what's another pair?
Next thing you know, you have four homemade cages in your degu room, various groups, and a Thickets cage next to one of them as you work through an introduction........

I went from 2 in my living room to 6 and a chinchilla in their very own room (the gooroom). *gulp*

If Little Bites doesn't have the right pair for what ever reason, do you guys think it's bad to look on the ads of people rehoming such as pets4homes or similar sites?

It's still rehoming unwanted degus so it's all good. Just try and find someone relatively knowledgable on degus and even better if they understand introductions and would be willing to take the boys back for rehoming if it didn't work out. At the very least it would be good if you could take Dave to them for a little through the bars meeting or see if they'll come to you x
