Aw I can imagine their confusion at their invisible human! I cannot wait to get it set up, I'm gonna be such a little goo stalker! "Sorry, I have to leave work immediately, Larry foot stomped!" Ahaha. I defo do not have the heart to tell her I think she was a contributing factor, my stepdaughter likes to think they are her pets when she stays 🤐 They are still grumbling at each other on and off, not as peaceful as before but no mad fights. Do you think I'm right keeping them together at this stage and just waiting to see if it goes tits up? Xxx

I think only time will tell. Degus are a law unto themselves.
Breeding season will be the biggest challenge, but they will sort it out for themselves.

I think there could be just as much harm in not trying them together as there is in parting them when there is no dangerous conflict. So . . . I think it is fine to let it play out.

Oops, sorry, can't think why I had niece stuck in my head instead of step-daughter!

I did wonder that, just in a short space of time you can really tell how it changes them on their own. I'll wait and see how it all develops, I so don't want to get to a neutering stage in the future, it all sounds very stressful and risky. Anyone had any experience with it? (as in your goos not yourselves 🙃) xxx

A couple of our members have had goos neutered, but it doesn't affect testosterone levels, so also doesn't change behaviour. Also, the items in question are within the abdominal cavity, so it's pretty major surgery for the fluffs!

Oh an no worries on neice/stepdaughter thing 😁 my family sometimes refer to me as her aunt by mistake haha. Oh I see, I just assumed it reduced testosterone and that why some people got the overly dominant ones done, so it's only benefit is to stop baby goos happening then? Your pic does make me chuckle Bouncy lol, I keep zooming in 😂 xxx

Hahaha it's the only way he knows to sleep! He's the weirdest. He's sat there, suddenly decides he's going to sleep, and just rolls straight over, eyes closed, all four paws in the air!
Yeah, goo testosterone is produced somewhere else in the body. Told you they were freaks!

The indifferent making up position which declares you are still mad, but don't want to be without the other. LOL!

Stepdaughter is back....has literally been nowhere near the cage, almost a FBOD and they are seperated again, not been able to check for injuries as too busy chuffing and grunting. WHAT IS GOING ON!! Xxx

It could be a scent (noses are more sensitive than ours), higher pitched voices, different noises from her playing.........

Strange theory, but could they be fighting over her?

I think with goos anything is possible! But I specifically made sure she didn't approach the cage or feed them or anything. Hehe a goo crush on a 9 year old human girl, that has to be the title of a unique thread! 🤣 maybe they are just stupidly hormonal and Barry really is just getting pee sick of Larry trying to him him every 3 seconds! It seems like a very temperamental hierachy in the cage of squabbles recently. Is it common for them to just need time out periodically and as before I can just keep reintroducing once they've chilled out and stopped being little sods? Xxx
