Yeah I know! I'd say he's at least 12 months or so. He doesn't seem very interested in his water bowl. But it's there and its better than nothing.
I'll tell you what he is interested in, warbling at Poppy! I think Pickle is feeling a bit jealous.

He's saying 'come on ladies, one at a time, I can satisfy you all. Whose first?' LOL.

😂 his puffy cheeks are so cute!
I'll try and get more photos today. I'm still in a lot of pain and all the housework has been left to me. 😞
Going to see my boyfriends little sister later it's her 10th birthday. I'll get a water bottle for Kev on the way.
I'll also do another introduction with Pickle and Pops today. They seem so desperate to be together.
Kevs gonna stay next to Pickle and Pops until his operation next Wednesday, and until he's healed. Then I'll bring Pinkie and Perks into the lounge so they're all in here together and put Kev next to their cage so I can watch what is going on and so he still gets a lot of human interaction and gets used to the noises.
My living room is gonna be a zoo you won't be able to move for cages 😂 I'll have three lazybones in here and my huge nearly 6 foot tall cage lol. My boyfriend is gonna be livid 😂😂😂

Are you going to try him with Poppy and Pickle? If he can assert dominance, there's a chance he could help them live as a group.

I was gonna try him with Pinky and Perky to be honest. But I'd rather follow your guys advice because you know a lot more about this than me.
My thinking was, if he lives with Pinkie and Perky, and they accept him and he becomes the dominant one.. once I have Poppy and Pickle together (which I do believe will happen, I think pickles size is just working against her currently, because they both seem pretty depressed and pine for each other) so once they are together.. I thought if Kev was the dominant one out of Pinkie and Perkie, getting Poppy and Pickle in with those three would be easier? Then I'd have one group of 5? That was my plan anyway. And I'd join as many lazybones together to the big cage as I could to give them absolutely loads of space.
Or do you think I should put Kev with Poppy and Pickle? I want to do what's best for them all. So your advice and input would be hugely helpful.

do you have any clean large pebbles or marbles or something like that, too big for him to get in his mouth? Put them in the water bowl, he can still drink the water that's between and over them, but it decreases the volume of water and how wet he can get if he steps in it.

Hmmmmm I don't think so no and I live in a town centre so I can't pop out to just pick any up. I don't think I have anything else I can use either. He'll have a water bottle by tonight. I don't think he's sooo daft to fall in it, he's just keeps sticking his head in and his hands rather than drinking it 😐

Kev is very special. I'm crying with laughter.
He's drinking water out of his hand. He leans over and dips his paw in making a cup shape and then drinks out of his hand!
Then goes straight in his bath and now has a sandy hand.

Cute! Sandy handy!
I love the long term plan to get them all together. I'm not really qualified to say who it would be best to try him with first. You are going to have 5 or 6 weeks before he can meet anyone anyway, so perhaps things will have improved with Pop & Pick in that time. And getting to know Kev better will help you decide, the more dominant he is, the more chance there is of him keeping the others in line. I'd be tempted to try it, you haven't got much to lose and you have quite a bit to gain if he can unite Pop & Pick.

Awwww *heart melt* you have one special boy there, hugs already! Think he's gonna be a real mammy's boy . Think he has missed company the poor lad. Suppose there's no way of knowing who to put him with, just go by the girls reaction to him and him to them and the deciding will be done for you.

He is a love, isn't he?
If he could bring Pickle and Poppy together, then you'd go from 4 cages to 2. However, I've not done male-female introductions at all, and never got past the divided level stage between Chester and the three Nut boys as Chester started having little strokes first and was a bit too wobbly to risk it.
I think watch your various girls, and see who looks the most promising. If Pickle and Poppy take to him and he brings peace among them, then you have no more singles. But if he easily goes in with Pinky and Perky, then that's less time and stress for you.
Now, though, Stay Out Of The Pet Store and Stop Bringing Home Degus!!!! Either that, or build a big homemade cage that's the size of a sofa, with upper sofa-like frame, and when you go out or an inspector is coming in, throw some cushions and a sofa-cover over it, put an allergy type air filter-blower on right next to it to cover up any noises, and hope they just don't sit down.

Lol!
Well I wouldn't go from 4 cages to 2 because I don't have a big enough "one" cage to house all three of them. I'd have to join the three lazybones up, which would hopefully just about be big enough. So that's not really gonna work in terms of it being a positive in terms of cage amount reduction.
I don't mind putting the work in and I don't wanna necessarily do what ever is easier. My dream is of course to have all five together.
I definitely think he'd seal the deal between Pickle and Poppy, they currently pine for each other and warble constantly at each other they just can't settle on who's gonna be the dominant one, so I think Kev would definitely help there. I'd have to join the three lazybones up for them to live in, perhaps two side by side on the floor joined and then one on top? I don't know if it would be big enough though even still.
Thanks for the compliments though guys.
Yes no more degus, until I move somewhere pet friendly anyway lol.

I don't know if it would be big enough though even stil Could you join two of them back to back, to make more of a square cage, then one on top for a higher section as well? And keep an eye out for another one being sold second hand, to join up and complete the block? You'd better make sure it's at least a 3 bedroom place, so the third bedroom can become your living room, and the larger living room can be the degu room!

Yeah I think that's what I'm gonna do re cage but my boyfriend is pretty pissed.
Yep! Can't wait to have a rodent room! When I live somewhere pet friendly I want to set up a rescue, for rodents. But I wouldn't take on 160 I'd only take on what whatever space I have allows, so they aren't cramped and have at least the minimum space they need.
I've decided to put Kev with Poppy and Pickle. How would I go about doing this? Obviously once he's recovered from surgery.
Would I introduce him to Poppy and Pickle separately? Or do group meetings?
Also I'm looking out for a 2 or 3 tiered lazybones cage if anyone sees one in the Worcester/Kidderminster area. I'm gonna be doing exactly what you suggested Winic.
