I'm so sorry. I'm sure Pip will be giving you lots of snuggles to help you. At least she's not suffering anymore and you know you did the most and the very best for Pepper ❤

I'm so very very sorry my love.
You did all you could, and I know the heartbreaking decision you had to make isn't an easy one.
Run free little one.

You did absolutely everything you possibly could. She was a brave little goo, and lucky to have had you as her slave The reason I said to keep a close eye on the bumps (but didn't want to tempt fate) is because the same thing happened with Fred the gerbil. He had a tumour on his scent gland removed. Within a week there were some slightly lumpy bits along his scar too, but he and his brother were back to running together in the wheel. One week later, and his brother was showing real concern. The tumour had come back with vengeance literally between me getting up that morning and lunchtime.

OH dear Thanks for the kind words. I just wish I had known the possibilities I don't think I would have bothered with removing the tumour, or letting the first vet touch her and squeeze the tumour. I'm still going to write a letter to them about that. I feel like if I had maybe taken her straight to earls hall we could of done a sample sooner and then maybe seen if the lump could be removed before it spread? I'm just really bad at things like this I always try to find a solution of what could of, instead of just thinking I did all the best I could. I jus wish to have hugs with her once more but that's always the way, where will it end I wish I could have endless hugs with her. Pip has never been as friendly as pepper, which is why I'm finding this harder... pip bites and nips, and is genuinely a lot more I suppose indipendant, doesn't like to be held much or stroked, where as pepper loved the attention. I think I'm gonna try and give pip away if I'm honest, I know it's sad, but I jus feel so bad to see her without another goo, it jus doesn't feel right. It don't feel right to come downstairs to the cage and have only one in there... whys this so hard!

I'm so sorry for your loss. You really did do everything you could, try not to torment yourself with alternate scenarios. It's only with hindsight that not touching the tumour and going straight for biopsy make sense, it could easily have been an abscess. Tumours in rodents often seem to re-grow, but if you love them, it must be an incredibly difficult decision to PTS withouth trying removing the tumour, you would never know if you made the right decision.
Pip will need a friend, so it is entirely up to you whether you wish to rehome her or take in more degus, please use our adoption board as you wish. She will be profoundly grieving for a while, you may find that she becomes more friendly with you if you kept her while doing introductions. She will probably appreciate a heatpad for a while.

Don't give up on pip. You'll find that she needs you more and more over the next couple of weeks, and you may be surprised by how much friendlier she'll be. She loves you really

So so sad to read this hun x She looked adorable and I know how you will be feeling. No words will make it better but give Pip all your love and you will both help each other through the worst. I know from experience that the bond you and pip share will grow stronger each day and you will see a change in your relationship. RIP pepper x

Was so sad to read this today. RIP Pepper, run free over the rainbow bridge little one. Give yourself and pip some time before you make any decisions regarding the future.
