Fantastic news! Sounds like proper care at last! Got my fingers crossed! Thought of going back to companion care with a complaint for a refund? They shouldn't treat animals they're not competent to see, but just because they're sold in store! So happy for you

Great Are they going to decide whether they want to drain if after they find out what info they can get from the sample? Trimacare seems to be another antibiotic, I haven't come across that one. (I agree you have good grounds to complain at Companion Care, they sent you away with Pepper in much worse condition than when you arrived) Can you sort a meeting place on one level for while they are separated, and/or let them have visits with each other? It's important they stay in touch and stay friends and still know the other one is around.

I've got to say, the "before" photo still resembles the bite scar Squidgy has compliments of Spidey! I really do hope it's something straight forward. You might even find the vet at EHVG will support you!

Thanks guys.. Hmm i think i may go and complain about it then and try get my money back! Well she said something about draining it if its a cyst but she will still have to go under anesthetic.. yeah the trimacare is like a powder tablet crushed I really hope this one helps her and gets the lump to reduce, shes still bleeding now after hours the vet tried this powder stuff to try stop the bleeding but its just carried on and has got hay stuck to the wound now dont know whether i should give it a clean with the antiseptic or leave it til its scabbed over but the vet said maybe dont use that as much cos its pulling the scab off And yeah I have had them together for a little while as well and out the cage, but obviously most of their time is in the cage.. I might just keep the cage as normal while im watching them then when I go to bed separate them?

Tbh if it's scabbed, I'd leave it. Perhaps pull out any straw if you can. The stuff the vet used to try and stop the bleeding can easily be replaced with cornflour. Just chuck a load on to staunch the flow. She'll eventually groom it out herself.

What a crazy ride you've had! I really hope you will have your money returned to you.
The fluid that the vet pulled out with the needle, could you see pus in it, or was it mostly blood? Or maybe they did that where you couldn't observe?

I would keep them together as much as you can.
I would look for a dry antiseptic spray, or you can get antiseptic powder for pets by Johnsons in most pet shops, or maybe a strong liquid antiseptic spray that you just give one tiny spray of.

Oooooooh, reminded me - Pets Corner do an antiseptic spray on plaster for animals. The girls I know who work there swear by it, having used it on their dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters! Afraid I can't remember the name right now, though.....

I was thinking of something I have used on one of our dogs for "hotspots" that he seems to produce from excessive licking . . . anyway, it works really well to help reduce irritation and to promote healing. It is called Veterycin. I don't know if it is sold across the pond, and if it is, if it would go by that name or not.

Thank you for all your responses! I tried separating them but felt bad so theyre back together now but Im keeping a close watch, and this antibiotic is seeming not too hard to give although pepper is very stubborn I think shes getting used to it.. Ive been giving her treats after each time she lets the syringe go into her mouth lol! I dabbed the scab and tried pulling off hairs and hay that got stuck to it last night when it was bleeding. This is how the lump looks now

Any news on what it is yet?
How big is the open flesh part? I'm kinda thinking whatever the lump is, it might need surgery to remove it and close the skin together so it can heal. Can you feel how deep the lump goes?

That scabbing actually looks good, in a gross kind of way lol. Agree with the potential need for sutures, but let's see how long the scab stays put!

why can I not see any pictures on this thread? From what you all write, and the blank spaces, it looks and sounds like there are pictures

They said no results are back yet so to try again tomorrow but Im at work tomorrow so will try again Monday and see if anything is back.. I did think too that the scabbing looks like its healing ok.. The lump doesnt really go too deep, vet said see how she is on antibiotics and if it doesnt go down then yeah i guess surgery will be needed

That's fine, as long as the vet made a conscious decision to try to let the antibiotics work for a while, with a plan B if necessary, that sounds reasonable

I think I feel the same way as Bouncy. It does look nasty, but it also looks flatter and definitely like it is actually drying up, which is a good thing!

You know, I've just had a closer look, and I can even see fur growth through the scab! Yay!
