OK, first things first.
Has she been pawing at her mouth recently? How is her appetite? Is it the same for hard and soft foods? How has her weight been? Any other symptoms?

When she was eating, could you see food falling out of her mouth?

Rang one of the vets today to quote, they think it maybe be her teeth, they offered to do a free dental check

It certainly would be what we are wondering about. If you take them up on it, make sure they have a really good look at her molars to be sure there are no spurs, which can grow in all kinds of crazy directions like horns off the teeth. That means they can push into the soft tissues within the mouth and cause a lot of damage, if they are present.

I think that price is fairly reasonable isn't it? I've seen some quote way more. I think it depends on the severity of the spurs x

Personally I'd get them removed. You've already started noticing the symptoms and leaving them would mean they would only get worse.
The price seems reasonable given some of the quotes I've seen on here.

I think that seems a little expensive to me I usually pay around £40.00 for 2 degus including consultation and sedation. I guess every vet is different but does seem alot but for the health of the animal we gotta pay what's asked! It will only get worse if you leave it and cause great pain

She will be okay with no hard food until Friday as long as you give her plenty of fresh hay and foraging food, I also think seed mixes will probably be soft enough compared to a big hard bit of hard food to chew (I can't think what the word is for the food lol).

In the wild they don't obviously have access to nuggets (yay I remembered the word lol). So try to recreate as much as possible their natural diet, she will be able to chew most of that x
