That all sounds very weird. It is possible to see the teeth without sedation if they use a 'scope', although food and the tongue can get in the way and it's hard to see the outer faces of the teeth, and depends how compliant the degu is. Normally our vets write up pretty decent notes about what they did, so if you see a different vet they have some clue what is going on. It can take a few visits to find a vet you can trust - make a note of the names of the ones you have seen and so you know who to book and who not to book.

Oh gosh how did the vet handle the bite? I had to take my dog vet today and he jumped up and smacked the guy in the head with his big ol knucklehead. Soooo embarrassing but I guess they're use to it 😬 no wonder they charge what they do!
You've made the right decision getting them both checked, hazel has a good weight to her right now so don't worry too much she must be eating when you're not watching.
Today I mashed up nuggets, mixed nuts and weetabix and boiled water and Tibbs loved it! It must have smelled delicious because Garf came running over and he even had some even though he hates wet food. Maybe try that with them? Do you have a mortar and pestle? They're very handy.

WOW! It doesn't sound like they are very on top of things. I'm glad you have a better quote. Also glad they will be getting a better look at things. "IF" they see spurs when they have them out, will they deal with them right then so that they don't have to go under again?

She seems to be walking OK . . . not a lot of holding up her leg (left hind?). The sound is like she was startled or kind of angry, maybe both. Is she making that noise all the time? You definitely should keep your vet appointment.

You definitely should keep your vet appointment. When she stands on her back legs to reach up, and when she walking she like puts it down when sat still, when she walking its goes down , up, down etc, that nosie is when i went near her to check her leg, when i go to the vets it early 8:50am its just dropping them off, should i say something to the vet about her leg? plus i really dont want them stressing her out and the vets pulling it around, they both have an appointment for a dental check while they are put to sleep (gas).

I think I would mention it, especially if you are still feeling concerned about it. You can always ask them to please not pull on it.

I'd also mention it, it's the perfect time to examine it whilst she is under without causing her any distress. Fingers crossed it alll goes smoothly today

Fingers crossed for today. Its best to get everything done in one visit where possible, less stress for all concerned.
One of my vets paid the price when he handled TC (the elderly cat I lost last year) a bit too roughly, she attacked him and they had to sedate her to get a blood sample.
The vet never forgot it and TC never forgot that vet either. My cat vet now is a very gentle young man who insists on giving her a cuddle first.
My degu vet is very experienced and has no problems handling them with confidence.

Best of luck for today degulover! I know how worried you'll be feeling right now but I'm sure you'll have two much more comfortable degus at the end of the day!
