Rice puffs were gone. Not a good sign. I move on Sunday, now I'm afraid I'm going to accidentally have a hitchhiker.

How long since you last wore those?

At least a few years! And that was the last time too, haha.
All moved into the new place. I have a formidable amount of boxes to unpack, but Ollie seems to be thrilled with the new location. He's jumped his brothers at least twice!

Welcome to your new place!! You are a short few days there . . . how are things going? How do you feel? I hope it feels like home!

Thanks DC! I'm liking it so far! I got all unpacked on the first day, but definitely haven't figured out the layout or decorations yet. My mom is coming to visit me for my defense and is planning on helping with all of that I'm really excited, its been two years since I've seen her in person! It's been an adjustment for sure, there's less natural light and I've lost over 200 square feet. So definitely working out where is the best place to put the goos if I have people over. But honestly, I almost never have people over and if I do, they know the goos! Going to start saving for a down-payment on a house though (ahhhhhhh) once I start my new job! Which is kind of a crazy thought since I didn't think I'd ever own property. But I'm realizing how much I'd really prefer to live in a detached home. So in other words I've just moved but am already planning on moving in the next few years, haha.

I totally understand that! It means you are looking ahead to what you want to achieve and build into your life. That's awesome!
I'm really glad that you are all unpacked, have the joy of your Mom's visit to anticipate and the pleasure of working with her to arrange your new home to your satisfaction! That will make it feel so much more like your own, will add memories to make it more special, and will start the cooler season with warmth of heart.

yeah, as the weather gets colder, they move inside, if they can. a long rainy spell will bring them in, too.

I wonder where they are getting in at? Do you have your own laundry in your place . . . or know if there are accommodations for laundry in your home? I'm wondering if they are getting in through the exhaust pipe for a dryer? Or possibly the exhaust for the furnace?

Yeah, I should have expected this since I live near the woods!
Maybe, DC, but it could just be since the complex was built in the 70s and there's been settling of the foundation. It was redone recently, but there's no way they patched up everything.
I wasn't able to reach management today, but I did go through and spray peppermint oil as a deterrent. None of the rice puffs I left out to dry (Ollie's meds) were taken, so thats probably a good sign.

Perhaps you need to take up the flute and lead them all away, far away!

Well. Its 7:49 pm and I just caught a mouse. I know it's dark out, has been for about 3 hours, but this feels so early for it to be out?

Its not too early at all, they usually come out to feed between dusk and dawn, occasionally during the day depending on what species of mouse it is.
Wood mice, which are the ones who traditionally enter houses, can be active anytime of the day as long as its warm enough to forage, but you might not see them if they hear you about first and they are super fast on their feet. They'll gather a stash to get them through the winter, which is probably what he's doing now, if the weather is just beginning to get cold.
