I'll be honest, she looks just as big as my Harmione does when she is puffed up to her fullest, either when she is in a mard or is feeling the cold she never fails to amaze us how big she can make herself look! Try and get a pic from above so we can see the clear pear shape that comes with pregnancy.

Ok will do And when she puffs up can it stay for a couple of weeks? Do you think it could just be that? Thanks 😀

She can stay like it for a while depending on what is happening around her, she falls asleep like it too on the perch.

She has a lot of symptoms of pregnancy though, that’s what I’m worried about. Also we took a couple of photos around two weeks before we were going to buy them and she was still a little bigger than the other but while we have had her she has been growing, especially this last week or so, ( we got her around 3 weeks ago, or just under)

This was just my observation from personal experience that degus can look like that without being pregnant. It's such a shame that the vet was unable to confirm pregnancy when you took her in, I can understand that it must be worrying for you. If I were you I would be weighing regularly and looking for that pear shape from above. You said she is now falling asleep on your hand, are you not able to take a picture from above when she is like that? You have done an amazing job that she is so comfortable with you to do that while potentially being pregnant

Thanks for all the advice, I will start weighing her regularly, When I see her stretched out her body goes from thin at her arms to very big at her back legs, almost like a pear 🍐 I will post a photo and will keep you all updated on weight. I too am frustrated that he couldn’t tell me wether she was definitely pregnant or not but he did seem to think towards she was. He said he couldn’t be certain though.
Thanks again 😀

The further along she gets, getting bigger like she is, the more I am sure she must be pregnant and her delivery day must be imminent.

Those aren’t really the best examples when her head is more stretched out she resembles more of a pear.. lol

The second picture gives a hint to pear shape, but as you know, they are not the best. I still believe she is pregnant.

Me too, and I don't think she's going to remain pregnant for much longer. I guesstimate there's about 7 in there judging by her size

Quick update! Cha Cha is squeaking like mad, there’s nothing different In the room. And tookie is hidden behind the wheel being very quiet, Yesterday tookie kept taking pieces of toilet roll off me and was taking lots of things from their cage and adding it to their nest is that what happens usually near the end of pregnancy? Is it time?! Or is there something wrong? Thanks

Hi, Tookie hasn’t given birth and now it is October (the vet said if she hasn’t given birth by now she is probably not pregnant) But now I am very confused. Tookie is being very quiet and just sitting around (right now she is in her nest) and is the size of a baseball (and is getting bigger) , Cha Cha is very active and is very more friendly so I think she is ok! Do you think tookie could just be very obese? I have been feeding them normally and have cut out treats as I was worried about this, I have given them a few oats and puffed rice (plain one from health food shop) for training purposes only, plus forage. So I’m not feeding them wrongly (I don’t think!) To be honest I’m getting worried, do you think I should book a vet appt to get everything checked up or should I leave it? Thanks

Try not to panic. Degu gestation is three months in total, so she could still pop one day!
One thing that is very obvious to all of us is that degus don't overeat. Provided they're confident about their food being readily available (there's always something to eat), they eat their fill and stop. Even with treats, they just bury them for later and forget where they put them. Unless you have an exception to the rule, then other things have to be considered.
It's unlikely to be a case of extreme bloat after all this time, especially if she's pooing and peeing normally. Although if try not to handle her, will she let you put your hand on her belly? You may be able to feel squirming.
Have you been weighing her each week?
