I want to say yes they do look like that, but the longer I look at it, the blurrier it gets. So, I'm really not sure!

I know that’s why I wasn’t sure! She was just reaching up to get a piece of food so I had to quickly get my phone out to take a photo 😂 I will try and get a better one!

When is your vet appointment? It will be less stressful for you and them if a vet can confirm sexes and pregnancy rather than repeatedly trying to take photos, I know you have been trying for several days now without success so I would leave it for the vet.

Ooh, she's a tubby goo! Is she letting you handle her? If so, have a feel for nipples. They usually appear in the week of birth.
Be very firm with P@H. They are obliged to help you out. First, establish the sexes. If you have a male and female, they need to take him back (unless you want to have two groups). Mum is most fertile the minute she's born, so dad will need to get out. Going forwards, you have a few options:
1) Keep all goos, separating the boys from mum when old enough, so you have a male colony and female colony 2) Return the male, keep the female pups with mum, and pass back the male pups when old enough 3) Either way, demand that P@H gives you extra hay, food, and bedding for mum and pups
If you have female pups and want to keep your "male" (and he really is), you can have him neutered to keep them all together!
Obviously, it's not that straightforward, and there are other considerations, but we're here to help!

Hi sorry for the slow replies, I’ve been really busy. No babies yet! Tookie is acting just the same, no change! It is confirmed that they are both females. PAH have not given me an earlier appt and I have been pushing for it and pushing for it! But they have given me a free appt with the vet instead of a health check with the nurse. They are still not letting me handle them but Tookie is getting much more friendly! PAH still don’t believe that she is pregnant so aren’t making any promises but I will make sure that I get all the supplies I need if any pups arrive. Tookie is squeaking and making noises and groaning ALOT though that’s the only change. Thanks so much for the info on what to do with the pups, if they come o think I will probably try to give them away to good homes (I know a few people who have talked about wanting degus!) and will keep a couple of girls (if there are any!)

Excellent news that they are both female! The pups, I'm sure, will come along when they are ready. Tookie will feel more and more uncomfortable as her pregnancy progresses so she will have times when she just wants to be left alone.
You are welcome to place an ad on our adoption thread should you wish to rehome any of the pups as soon as they are old enough.
Keep us posted.

We finally got them to the vets! He was very good and knew a lot about degus. He was sure that Tookie was pregnant as she was all healthy otherwise, he said to leave it 21 days from now though just to make sure. And if there are no baby’s after that we should start regulating their food! And I finally got to hold her! She was very and I mean very clingy and he said that is a sign of pregnancy.
I’m so glad she is not I’ll! Thanks everyone for your help so far!😀

Great news! She'll deliver long before 21 days.
Did you get it in writing that she's pregnant? You can tackle p@h now the vet has confirmed.

Hi everyone sorry for no replies lately! No babies yet! But tookie is definitely fatter than when I first started this thread! Cha Cha is a girl! They have been training really well, tookie will now go in my hands and walk across my arms and now Cha Cha will take food from me! I have one question! I have been training tookie to walk into the ball and she always goes in and sits in there but i feel to bad to shut the lid and put her down! Will she like it in there? Thanks 😀

Hi degucat, please do not use exercise balls for degus (or any rodent really) as it causes the animals stress and can also cause them to overheat from poor ventilation. If you want to use them because you have no safe room in the house, why don't you have a look at some of the threads we have on making or buying your own playpen? Everyone will be a lot happier and, if you make it big enough then you can sit in which will help you bond with your girls even more (and well done with the bonding so far ). I'll go and find some of the playpen threads for you now.

Do you mean an exercise ball? No, degus do not like them. They feel trapped, and because the air holes are so small, it gets very stuffy and short of oxygen in there very quickly.
Degus should not be put in exercise balls. It is bad for them, especially as pregnant as Tookie is, it could be disastrous. Degus are different from hamsters, and should never be put in a hamster ball.
However, if she will willingly go into the ball, you can use that trick to catch and move her when you need to--have her go into the ball, just put your hand over the opening to cover it and move her to your carry cage (like for if you need to go to the vet), or if she is out of the cage and you want her back in, etc. Just like people often use a cardboard tube to transfer them from cage to carrier or playpen to cage, etc.
