Hey guys my mistake they will be 4 floors 2(2x3x2) and 2(1x3x2) I feel that give the goos lots of floor space over the 4 floors plus on a vertical level I'll be adding long ledges as shown in the awful p@h cage. Again sorry for the mix up! Whole floor missing out of everyone's calculations haha! And I forgot to mention how on the larger floors they will be extra floor space etc Atm I have the CARA at 22,296.72cm I realised I've needed to make this slightly larger for the 5 by adding half a foot width and length I've got the CARA at 30,809.18 I'm not 100% if I've calculated correctly so feel free to tell me I've done it wrong 😅 Again that you all for the help I'm sure our girls will get there in the end speaking today having the cages side by side they is no aggression at all it's drastically cut down going hours without any aggressive squeaks! As for ventilated and lighting I'll be sorting that out after I've build the main frame to get a feel for it

Okay so I've got the first draft of the cage build! First off the CARA Is either 19,425 or 39,375 I don't quite understand the help diagram anyhow; First off it's 5 sections each can be removed to rearrange the degus home to spice things up every now and then and will be 3 sides glass with one side being plywood lined with glass so they can't get through to it. Please ignore my bad drawing skills but measurements etc can be seen here: (Also feel free to follow me on twitter 😂) Front and sides will be glass Back, base and top will be plywood lined with glass (holes drilled for ventilation Lmk if you have and suggestions or querys

How are you going to place the levels? What will they be attached to? What will you make them out of? All that glass will be heavy and expensive. You will need to drill a lot of holes. Where will you be placing it in your home . . . direct sunlight will make it heat up very quickly inside.

Not to mention if anything falls on the glass (degus can be hooligans at times, lol) it may chip.

The cage isn't in direct sunlight, will be lighting added expensive isn't a issue and they won't be attached - gravity will hold the cages in place perfectly fine I'll give extra attention to when they're placed

I'm totally confused, now, LOL! Gravity will certainly hold the cages to the floor of the room . . . is that what you mean? My question was to do with the levels inside the glass cage . . . if you have a glass exterior, how are you going to attach the levels to the glass and keep them supported? Will the levels also be glass or are you making them out of something else, like wood? I'm sure I'm not understanding you, and I hope I have not frustrated you by asking again.

NEW update: Today I made the frame and shelves, tomorrow I'll fix the shelves to the frame and then all I have to do is add the glass and my cage is complete only question I have is instead of ramps up each side anything else I could use for them to get up / down the floors ?

You can attach ramps to the sides if that's what you want. For mine, I just strategically place boxes under the pop up holes and they jump up.

You can use steps or jumps, but ramps are probably best, particularly as degus get older. What's holding you back with ramps? Can't wait to see this cage!

Not long to wait guys the struggle I’ve had trying to get this huge cage up my girlfriends stairs and into her room oh my god never trust your girlfriend for measurements! Barley could fit through her door never mind the angle we had to turn on her stairs. Had to dismantle the bottom section only to rebuild it once I could squeeze the wood round the bannister. Anyways only a solid 2 hours installing this thing in her room but it looks absolutely amazing!
