Fun times, just let them both out not at the same time, but left everything for the next one same sand bath, toys etc.. and as soon as they RE saw each other in the cage the teeth chattering.....
Plus not gizmo now knows I'm boss XD seeing after I told them to pack in with the aggression he decided to hiss at me followed by him getting a short but semi forceful blow, he is now sat looking at me almost thinking "I lost"

It can be a really good thing to tell them off and exert your authority (if you have any, I don't lol), but do be careful touching them in a telling off way. You could try blowing air/ breath in their face, that usually gets there attention with no harm done.

So it's been about 2/3 weeks since these 2 decided not to be friends or least fight, a lot of the aggression has gone only had one or 2 teeth chattering for a week so tempted now that stripes foot is fine and gizmo seem fine to try and introduce them again, they are getting on better now a lot of warbling between them so I think soon is the time to introduce again

OK got everything to try and introduce them, spray bottle and 2 towels now is it best to have the full spray (wide area) or the more concentrated squirt (single line) if needed to break them up

Well that failed, was fine for 5mins a bit of a stand off then boxing and a few seconds later furball, this time both came off with bites. Stripe under his eye and nose and gizmo has a bite mark on his side -_-. Man is it that hard for them to just get along....
If this is any help gizmo was looking like he wanted to play and sniff, stripe on the other hand started almost instantly to get aggressive, teeth chattering, tail banging and all fluffed up. This was in the spare room where they come out separately so it has both there scents in there and everything

Sounds like Stripe is the dominant of the pair, and is reinforcing it!

That's a shame it didn't go better. Give it some more time.

Sounds like Stripe is the dominant of the pair, and is reinforcing it! See now this I kinda disagree, stripe is considerably smaller, gets more injured, more submissive to my partner and me, never tried to assert dominance over us, he is just more aggressive for no reason :/ not to mention stripe is an attention "inappropriate word" XD

I was going to say something quite similar, Sonataarctica. I all the cases with my degus, the instigator was always the more defensive/offensive an not having any interest in playing, grooming, or cuddling. They were only focused on becoming top degu, whilst the other was calm and trying to pursue a stable happy relationship in the same manner as it had previously been. To me, Stripe is the instigator and is coming after Gizmo, who is the dominant.

Stripe has definitely been instigating it that's certain. Honestly to me these 2 are more confusing then anything XD probably be a different scenario next time... only thing I can think of though is maybe stripe wanted pay back for his foot?

Degus are known to be massive grudge holders, so what you are thinking is not outside the realm of possibility.

I agree DC, I never really trust Tibb's, even when he's pretending to be friendly! he's a cunning lil so and so!! The other day I was sitting in front of Garf's cage watching him chewing some willow sticks that I'd stuck through the bars. Tibb's was already out and he very delicately hopped onto my leg, looking up at Garf at his gate, I was like awwwww Tibb's you want to say hello? So I scooped him up and moved him towards Garf and then he just LAUNCHED and grabbed Garf's paw that was holding the bar!
He's definitely harbouring a grudge from losing a few fingers and he's trying his very best to get Garf's fingers for payback.

See if never let mine fight to the point they are missing limbs even if it means they stay separated forever and just live side by side and meet each other outside the cage where I can freely stop them

Losing fingers is easier than you think. Three of mine have had one or two amputated by Spidey's teeth, and not because I hadn't tried to stop them. Luckily, it doesn't seem to bother them.

I know like gizmo got his foot into the doorway to his cage :/ But still if I cab prevent it I will and if that means eliminate any possibly chance I will, and at least then they might learn to get along (one can wish)

See if never let mine fight to the point they are missing limbs even if it means they stay separated forever and just live side by side and meet each other outside the cage where I can freely stop them They are separated and live side by side and the finger chomping has happened when Tibbs had scaled every kind of barrier and climbed up to Garf! He's a rascal. But yes, this is why they remain separated and even though their free time is supervised now, turn away for a second and that rascal Tibbs is thinking he's Ethan Hunt and Rambo's spawn. This is why I have given up on thinking they can live together though, as like I said, they're both holding grudges over these instances (especially Tibb's)
