I had to change mine, they were Rodney and Soltaire originally, I called them Pixie and Dixie, but Bumblebee has always been Bumblebee.

I changed all mine, but then I felt wrong calling Gandalf "Big Daddy" and I couldn't tell the difference between "Harvey" and whatever they'd called the other one so they were renamed Pippin and Venk once I'd learned how to tell who was who. And although I preferred "Silver" than Smeg, it seemed fair that I got to name 2 and the OH got to name the other two. He didn't like my original idea of calling them Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin so I only got to name two of them after Lord of the Rings characters Then the new pair I was never told what their names were so I had to come up with something or they would have just been referred to as the blind git and the fat git

The only one of mine we didn't name was Lula who we adopted. She came with that name so we kept it but added 'bear' to it. She actually knows her name whether we call her Lula, Bear or Lula Bear, bless her. We added 'Bear' because her fur is so thick....like.....a bear hehe.

Sorry there was a whole page I didn't see!
I'm keeping his name as Kev, since it makes me laugh. What a funny name to call a degu, especially as my best friends dad is called Kev and he's a short hairy biker dude lol!

I had a pair of goldfish in college that I ended up naming Killer and Munch. Munch because Lunch was too impersonal. Killer had issues, and attempted to take them out on Munch, hence the names. At the end of the year, when I was going back home for the summer, I had a friend take them to keep them in her aunt's fish tank for me. Come back in the fall, ask for the fish, and she tells me her aunt just looked in the tank and Killer was gone, only Munch remained. So, I guess Munch got tired of being chased.

Now I want chicken kiev for dinner, and we are in the middle of the blizzard and can't go out to get some.
I tend to keep names animals arrive with, unless we really don't like them or they don't fit, or we can't come up with something better. And names may change if warranted, like Buttercup to Spawn of Satan.
Getting harder to keep naming, with so many, so, for example, the last three finches who fledged were named Uno, Dos, Tres, as they came out of the nest one, two , three.

Going to have to count in other languages for future clutches, I know French but (phonetically) un, duh, twa just don't sound like proper names for fleet, light little birds.

My hands are cut to pieces from having him out, against his will may I add, claws are like literal razor blades. Gonna have to go buy some sharpish stones the weekend.

I think Bumfit sounds totally made up, like somebody has been messing with wikipedia, but I checked with Ian, he says it's real.
Winic, you needed a straight guy to tee up your unneutered male degu comment ^ lol!
