Hopefully tonight!
The rooms a mess and needs a very good cleaning as I've been using power tools in there but I intend to get the castors on tonight and then I'll need to clean the room, empty out the fish tank and put it into storage, empty out the turtle tank so I can move it then fill it and then ill need to move the drawers around to make space. Hopefully it shouldn't take too long!

Are you going to take the glass out while you are moving it about and get the castors on? I would if there is any flex at all. Have fun!

Did you get the edging from Wickes? We still need to get this. How did you attach it? Was it easy to use?
Hope the girls settle in nicely!

Not in the end, screwfix do a pack of 5 for £17 so it worked out a lot cheaper per strip. The strips under the glass runners were drilled and countersunk, the rest I just clamped on with guerilla wood glue. Seems to hold up well enough.

Oh, just a heads up, some screwfix stores don't stock them as standard and have to order them in so it may be worthwhile ordering online the day before you plan on collecting. I stopped by on Saturday afternoon after work to pay and they had them in ready for me the first thing on Sunday morning!

The girls are loving it!
Oh, and my signatures a little off....
I have three girls,
Mel (Nearly 7 years old)
Charlie (Mel's daughter 4 years old)
Nic (same litter as Charlie)
Sadly Mels sister Houdini passed earlier this year)
I also have one male aged 6 months called Mickey who is a patched degu (named mickey as he looks like a mouse)

Update after a month: Goos seem to be really enjoying it, the branches didn't last long either! So far the cage is holding out well, the sawdust seems to stay put on the levels without a 'strip' to keep it into place. Strangely, there's not been much chewing.... probably to the abundance of branches I've had in there - going to be a nightmare replacing now there is no leaves outside! The only chewing I've spotted is on the edge of one of the ledges on the top floor (cage designed so that ledges and ramps can be chewed) However, they have actually managed to chew into the wall of the cage because of this! its nothing major and it looks like 'collateral damage' from the shelf chewing. Only other downside is the goos are too clever! on the bottom floors the constantly push sawdust up against the glass so I have to slide it open a bit and move it all before opening fully. In hindsight I suppose I would of been better off reducing the height of the glass by around 5 inches or so and placing a 5" strip of wood on both the bottom levels that the glass could sit on but then it wouldn't give me a view of the floors of the cage without standing next to it

I'm really pleased you are happy with how it is working out They will still enjoy branches and twigs with no leaves on and it's surprising what trees you can identify from the leaves and seeds/ fruit on the ground. You can add plates of metal to the walls locally if it comes to that, thin aluminium sheet works well. You might find that with it just being a local problem they will chew so far and then it will get awkward and hopefully then they stop. You could add a little upstanding edging strip in front of the glass runners to stop so much crud going in, a piece of the alu. angle would keep most of the mess out if you have any left.

Your cage looks amazing. Currently building my own of similar dimensions. The lino tiles were a great idea

I'm really chuffed with it! I've noticed with the exemption of the end of one shelf (one of the replaceable ones at the top) they've not chewed a thing, the sleeping box, ramps and most shelf's have not been touched so they must not be as bored as they used to. cleaning it is really easy, I just scoop the sawdust and spray and wipe down the tiles. The only issue I have had is that sawdust builds between the glass and the protective edging meaning i get a bit of sawdust falling out when I open the cage. Not a big issue but means i have to be a bit careful.
