Hello all Members!! We want to let you know that we are going to be upgrading the forum from version four proboards to version five. I don't know when this will take place, as we place a request for Proboards to do this, and they slot us in when they can, but sometime in the relatively near future this will be taking place. Any bugs that are noticed, problems, issues, please post them here so that we can then report them to Proboards and they can help us to resolve them. Thank you in advance for any patience this may require.

Just want to let you know that our position in queue for the changes is 153. So . . . a little while before we see anything, I should think!!

How do I get to the place where I can change the colors again? I forget, I can't find it, and the new look is not easy on my eyes the way I have it set now, so I think I need to change things for me.
and ewww, the scary grey ghost person non-avatar has got to go!

I like the "participated" link in upper right corner... It is always a priority to check answers on your posts...
On the other hand, I dislike the missing "new topics" link which I used all the time, although on home page new topics are marked with little title "new" over the folder picture so it is still possible to find new topics relatively easy...

I really appreciate your effort to give the forum a new, more modern look. But I think proboard made it a little bit too modern. I hope that for the administration some things are easier now as for using it it will take some time to get used to it. It looks so different right now. In the window I am writing there is no frame to indicate that it is the text field. And it looks quite cramped. The older version used more of the screen, now it seems so narrow. What I am missing: - the spell checking button, even if I am the only person using it - the preview At winic1 (sorry, but for a strange reason I do not understand this at-sign is not accepted anymore ): you can change the colours in Profile -> edit profile -> settings (4th tab) -> Forum theme

I think it may have happened quicker than you thought DC The layout will take time to get used to, there is a recently updated (aka new) section Winic. But I haven't seen it on a computer, but ut has a mobile version now which is a bonus! Maravilla, if you have Google Chrome as a browser it does spell check for you, I'm sure the others would have a manual option?

Okay, so I checked out the desktop for the "recent" link, it's right at the bottom next to the latest post. Click Recent THREADS not posts otherwise it literally just gives you the new post written, not the whole thread.

The new forum looks lovely, I like the styling, it is a bit slow on my computer but other than that (and the lack of spell checker) I'm happy

@dyz I couldn't get on the forum yesterday morning between about 10 & 11 UK time, that's the first time I can remember that happening. Don't forget if the app goes wonky, you can try accessing the site through your browser.
We are hoping the new version of the forum will have a search function that actually works, and the skins system is supposed to work much better, so we hope the teething troubles will be worth it.
LOL @ scary ghost/ alien avatar.

Maravilla, if you have Google Chrome as a browser it does spell check for you, I'm sure the others would have a manual option? Well, I use firefox and did not find it so far. But this is not the worst thing. Normally the spell checker only marked the word "degu" as wrong ... and all the words which are written differently in American English. What I am really, really missing is the preview-buttom. It is so useful to check the text, the links and pictures before posting. Would be great to have this back!!

I'll look into getting the spell check and post preview back. Maravilla I've had a look on firefox and IE, and I'm getting quite a narrow display on firefox too, it definitely looks a lot better on IE. I do have text set to be bigger on Firefox though, and that sometimes sends things a bit wonky. amc 'new topics' button is now near the bottom and is called 'new threads' it's slightly hidden in the forum statistics area. Keep the comments coming, I'll try and look into fixing things.

One thing you can now do with the narrower screen is simply expand the whole thing with the simple trick ctrl + (plus). Each time you click ctrl +, it enlarges what's there a set amount. ctrl - (minus) reduces it the same set amount each click. Or to get back to normal in one click, ctrl 0 (zero). Same thing as ctrl (scroll), but with + or - you get a set jump in size. On my computer three ctrl + spreads the screen side to side, and also enlarges the print for me so I can see it, so it's not bad in my opinion.
This trick works most everywhere, sometimes websites are set up so they kind of scramble when you do this, but much of the time it works, quickly and easily, without going through the hassle of changing your screen resolution or any of that.

Spellcheck Proboards say that spell check has gone for good, because all modern browsers have it built in (and IE 7 &8) have add ons), and also because it would slow things down and divert their resources to put one in. The consensus is that you may need to play with your browser spellcheck to get it to work how you want, there are also spell check plugins for browsers if that helps.
Preview Post Function If you look at the bottom of the text box for replying there are 2 tabs saying visual and BBCode. If you have BBCode selected the text box works like in V4 and shows the code for any effects you are applying. If you switch to 'Visual' it shows you how it will display on the forum. You can switch between the two while you are writing your reply and you can choose which should be your default setting in your profile.

WOW!!! To say I am shocked this morning (good afternoon to all my UK friends!) is an understatement!! You are right, NTG, I truly did NOT expect to see this for a good couple of weeks as least! I believe I was expecting it to be a much more time consuming proceedure. WHAT is UP with those "Stories from around the web" listed below? I can do without that. As for spell check, I have been forced to look up at the task bar on my browser and find that there really IS a spell check in there. Who knew? Molettuek and Proboards!!! And now me. I find this font a little weird, too.

I've changed the forum width, so it shouldn't look stupidly narrow on Firefox any more, I think it was narrow on Chrome too. Let me know if anyone spots any more problems with this.
