Mine always loved fresh cornflowers but they wouldn't touch them dried unless they were the only thing left for some reason.

I just found a flower and herb mix, in a local store, purely by accident. Not intended for housepets--it's CHICKEN TREAT MIX. yes, was roaming a local garden and feed store (Agway, for my fellow Americans) and at the end of the aisle of chicken feed, feeders, fencing, etc, was this bag of flowers and herbs mix! Very expensive way to get it, but for a first try of many of these items, we thought this was the way to go before placing a big order. My guys lived in a shelter for almost two years and obviously never had anything but hay and pellets, as they won't even touch fresh grass, and have rejected the leaves and things I did manage to have on hand. Put a bowl in, and they dug right in! Nervously, dove in and started chewing, then darted back while another dove in, as if they weren't sure they should be doing that, but it looks like a great success. Will see what they do and don't eat, and then I know what to order in bigger quantities.

Great info winic1! I googled their product... it is for nesting? Not consumption in chickens? I'm sure it is fine since it is organic, but that surprised me.

I didn't even notice that. The ingredients are just organic flowers and herbs, nothing else. It smells great. Almost too strong when you first open the bag. My guys have eaten much of what I gave them, then buried one bowl, I used a small, very low bowl and it's completely buried in a pile of chips. Guess they're saving that for later? Silly goos.
Wonder why chickens need smelly herbs and dried flowers in their nests. Keeps bugs away? Will have to ask my neighbor, she keeps chickens.

I looked at the reviews on amazon. It seems they use a very small amount (one tsp) in the area they desire the chickens to nest (drop eggs) in. I guess the odor is attractive to the chickens? It probably is part of why it is so expensive, only needs application like once a week.
My mom also keeps chickens; I know she has found eggs in WEIRD places before. Actually there is a story (that I don't recall) of me holding a chicken when it suddenly decided now would be the time to "drop a big one" right on the kitchen floor. The more I think of it, the more beneficial this stuff sounds to chickens if it does what it says.

Well, the degus seem to like it indeed, and these guys like very little besides hay, pellets, rose petals, bird seed mix, and some green, hay-based but not exactly good for them cheerio-like treats. So, while buying this particular stuff is too expensive, as a first experiment in whether they would like better forage if I bought it, it is a success. I've tried giving them some other dried flowers and leaves that I did myself, and they weren't interested. Wonder if it's the smelly herbs that are attracting them to it? That would be easy--dry my own hibiscus flowers and dandelion leaves, but store them in with some mint and thyme or whatever, to smelly them up.

I mixed all of mine (except seeds) together in a plastic tub and they get a handful each per day.
The seeds are in a separate tub and they get a teaspoon per goo per day 😊
Were you excited when it arrived? I was!

I think they are fine to be given daily, although if they haven't had any of them before you need to gradually build it up, just like any other new food.
Do you have a big tub you can put them in? It makes it a lot easier if it's mixed together (well I find it does)

All the plants and flowers look like ones you can feed unlimited. Your girls are used to forage so I don't think you even need to try anything gradually really.
The roots should be fairly small pieces at a time. And the seeds are a max of 1tsp per degu per day.
I would keep the forage in separate bags while you try each one so you can work out which they like so you know what to buy again. But after that you can mix all the leaf ones together, and mix all the flower ones together, but keep the leaves separate from the flowers.
