Hi Fellow Degu Owners, My name is Paris, i'm 22 from East Midlands, England. Thought I would introduce myself as having found this forum I will become a regular user. In December I became the proud owner of 4 male Degu brothers - Sanchez - Sanchez is my favourite, he is the smallest and has the most personality. He is named after the Chilean footballer Alexis Sanchez who is small, fast and skillfull just like him Stumpz/Stumpy - Stumpz is slightly bigger than Sanchez and just as cute. He has a shorter tail as he had lost the tip some time before I bought him. Andre - Andre is named after Andre 3000 from the band Outkast...not because I am a big fan but because he has always been a bit of an outcast from the rest. He is bigger than Stumpz and Sanchez and very friendly although slightly timid. Big Boi - Big Boi was originally named Big Man just because thats what he was referred to when I first bought my Degus however Big Boi is the name of another member of Outkast, so it made sense haha Big Boi has always been a bit of a bully and the brute of the pack. He is however a loving and friendly Degu. THANK YOU FOR READING MY INTRODUCTION. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW TO MY THREAD AS I COULD REALLY USE SOME ADVICE...!! deguworld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=intro&action=display&thread=15298Attachments:

Welcome!
Read over your other thread and I think you have gotten the best advice already. Like you we were sold three Degus in a Thickets cage and once they started to grow they became almost unbearable and stressed. I joined two together last September and things thankfully settled down but then we have three sisters who get along very well (touch wood).
Having said that after spending time on here I have read about the benefits of DIY building and am starting to embark on my own project in order to give them even more space and make our lives easier (plus it'll improve the aesthetic of the lounge!). Two cages are fairly easy to join together in the mean time if you are handy with a pair of wire cutters and pilers.

Hi MHB, Your Degus are in a Thickets cage also? With regards to the advice I have been given it has been very useful. Cant wait to have a new cage built, Im sure you are the same. Unfortunatly I have a feeling my problem Degu will never change. There is only one way to describe him and that is a Bastard!! Haha love him but he is a real bully!

Hi MHB, Your Degus are in a Thickets cage also? With regards to the advice I have been given it has been very useful. Cant wait to have a new cage built, Im sure you are the same. Hi - yeah mine were originally in a single cage and I came on here because they were acting out. Following some great advice I bought another one off ebay and make a double decker which you can see here: deguworld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Cage&action=display&thread=6918&page=14It did the trick for our three but as I say, they all get on very well. Having said that though the cage is an eye sore and has to be lifted up and down which my partner struggles with (it takes two) as she has a bad back. So I am starting a build for so many reasons the top ones being: Space - I want them to be happy and have plenty of room to explore whilst we're both at work. Plus if we lost one it would be easier to introduce another pair. At the moment we just have space for three. Cleaning - Keeping them in a box means less frequent cleaning, plus all the substrate will be inside or some out the front. At the moment we are cleaning every week and sweeping the floor every day. Plus my partners bad back makes it hard and I desperately try to do most the heavy work myself. With a box I can hoover it out! Aesthetics - I have had to strip and totally redecorate the lounge since we bought the house and I have got it to the point where it looks lovely. Apart from the dirty great cage in the corner. Building them a box that fits into the alcove will make it look nicer. But deep down it's because I love it. Unfortunatly I have a feeling my problem Degu will never change. There is only one way to describe him and that is a Bastard!! Haha love him but he is a real bully! Some times they can be real little jerks, but you do love them! ;D
