I know exactly how you're feeling! It's blooming stressful to be sat there thinking "has it grown? I think it's grown, but am I just imagining it?" But, as long as it's not bothering him in any way then try to relax. As long as he's acting normal it's a good sign I hope Monday's visit isn't too stressful for the little scaredy-cat! Does he at least travel okay?

He did last week, he was trying to catch glimpses through the gaps in the travel cage. Although he may have been looking for how to get out! Lol. On the way back, he sat there nibbling on some forage.
I'll do what I did last time, snugglesafe at the bottom wrapped in a towel, layer of hay, breakfast on top of that. As long as he's warm and has food, he should be OK.
At the moment he's running in his wheel, diving off, grabbing a mouthful of food and then back on his wheel before he's finished eating! Surprised he hasn't been sick! Lol.

Just spoken to Vets4pets - they are not happy that I'm seeking a 2nd opinion, but that's just tough. They have sent through the estimate for the surgery for £277, and I've told them to cancel the op and that King's Road are seeing him next Monday. I got a very terse 'that's fine, we'll mark the file accordingly.' But they have agreed to transfer his files.

OK, just got back from seeing Wendy at King's Road Vets. Bumblebee was a little star and not only let her take a look, but also let her take a small sample from the lump without needing to be sedated! Dixie has been hearing ALL about it since we got home.
She has placed him on anti inflammatories for a week to see if it settles down, but in her opinion it's a haematoma which should reduce on in time with the help of the meds.
Total bill today £15 (£10 consultation, £5 for the meds) big difference from the £110 Vets4pets charged me the other week and the £277 they wanted to charge me for the surgery.
He doesn't have to go back unless it doesn't settle down.

A haematoma is a big, deep, bruise, isn't it?
Hope this has set your mind at rest as much as possible.

A haematoma is a big, deep, bruise, isn't it? Hope this has set your mind at rest as much as possible. I feel better about it now thanks. Hopefully I can get some sleep and stop worrying about him as much as I have ever been. I hate it when any animal is sick or injured, I'm truly awful to be around when it's one of my own. It is a big bruise, he basically landed really badly when he fell, she said it's in the skin, not attached to anything else at all and all she got when she took the sample was blood. They are a very good vets, I think it helps that Wendy owns the practice so it's her reputation and business on the line. He was very good on the journey there and back, about 40 mins each way and through the Tyne Tunnel, so I gave both him and Dixie a piece of hazelnut when he was safely back in his cage for being good boys.

It may have set him back, but I believe his forgiveness will come sooner than you think, and that he will become closer than ever before. I think both you and Claireh may get right (sorry can't open multiple quotes) When I was feeding them this morning, he came bounding over towards me and almost shot straight off the upper half level of an aventura cage. He was either pleased to see me or he has a crush on Wendy the vet!

Good to hear Wendy was much more useful than the other vet!
I think it's a coincidence thing with them when it comes to vets visits. I've always noticed that they're calmer when I do the main handling and take some comfort in me after so they gain a little bit more trust in you after since you were there for them so to speak.

I love that, Savvy!! If he continues to grow more attached to you, you might have to change his name to something more friendly . . . say . . . Butterfly?

Eddie (as in The Eagle) springs more to mind at the moment, lol.
His nickname is Fluffy Bum as it was all I saw of him for the first couple of weeks when he first arrived, just this fluffy bum sticking out the end of his hiding place. Bit like Ellie in Ice Age hiding behind a twig.

Just got back from the vets!
Both boys booked in for next week. Dixie for dental as he was showing signs of a spur, but vet thinks there's a small 'something' on his gum, so he's going under for them to take a closer look. Bumblebee is having his lump removed as it's now gone into more of a gelatinous splodge on his leg and he's started to try and bite it out. Both are on meds until their surgeries.
Both were really well behaved at the vet, Dixie even let her put the scope in his mouth without a struggle. Bumblebee put up with all the prodding without a fuss.
They've had a hazelnut as a treat for being good boys and an apology for taking them to the vet. Not sure when they'll forgive me though, lol.

Dixie has sort of forgiven me, but no such luck from Bumblebee, lol.
Bumblebee took his baytril OK on a treat last night, Dixie starts his meds tonight. Been quoted between £110 and £150 for both ops. That's not too bad.

I'm sorry to hear they are both needing procedures. It sounds like you have it all under control and that price sounds pretty good

2nd vet trip this week for Bumblebee today!
Got up this morning and noticed where he'd been biting had a bit of pus around it, called the vet. While waiting for the call back he manages to knock the scab off - blood all over the cage! But it looks a nice healthy red.
Got hold of the vet again, and took him down to see them, luckily him knocking the scab off cleaned out the pus so it's stabbed over quite nicely again. Now he's on baytril and loxicom until he goes in on Tuesday.
Oh and she's given me a cone of shame just in case he won't leave it alone. Spent the rest of the afternoon threatening him with it.

Awh poor Bumble! Do they think that the lump an abscess or a growth of some kind? Hope he's forgiven you (and you've forgiven him ) for the vets today!

No, it looks like a giant bruise because instead of being absorbed back into his body, it's now sort of hanging in its own little skin fold. There's nothing attached to it it's just a gelatinous skin covered lump. It in that fold of skin between his hip and his side.
They think that he bled into a cavity when he did the original injury. I did the same with my shoulder a few years back. It's because of the site that he caught it when he was on the wheel (I took his bath out over a week ago when I first noticed that the skin had been broken) otherwise it's not bothering him much, they think it was beginning to itch.
The pus did look like it was on the surface more than deeper and it's not inflamed or hot to the touch. It doesn't bleed when it's touched which is a bonus.
On the plus side, he's a little sweetheart when traveiling and just sits in his carry case eating. He's also getting better at being handled by the vet, she said Wendy had noted that he was 'scared but not agressive' on his notes. He's currently chewing the bars after munching through a pile of hay so he's recovered from the vet!
