I hope Kev comes out OK.
You could try pushing for a reduction in cost, as he's rescued from there, and molar problems won't have developed in a few weeks. It's also worth getting an x-ray of the roots whilst he's under.
As a ballpark, it's £140 at my vet for molar burring.

Prevalence of teeth issues does seem to be getting worse in degus, particularly young ones so I'm not surprised you vet has dealt with them a fair amount.
It seems like good pricing though, and you seem confident in him!
As for taking Poppy, it depends on how well they travel. My first four I always took separately as Gandalf was the best traveller anyway, and with having the 4 it would mean splitting into pairs which seemed riskier in terms of rejection or taking all of them which wasn't really feasible. With Sherlock, I take Watson as well as both are very good travellers, don't get phased at all, and I think it would do them more harm to split than to take them both with the bond they have.

bouncy thank you, he already charged me less for consultation and sounds like he's already doing it all on the cheap to be totally honest. He's charging me £30 for tomorrow for sedation, minor spur removals/removing if something is stuck - and that's just the cost of a 5 minute consultation - what I should have been charged today rather than £18. If it's a lot worse than expected I.e he will have to go back Tuesday then I'll speak to Gavin about it. He was really kind. Stern, but kind lol. I kind of don't want to pay for anything other than the bare minimum as I can't really afford it.. X-Rays are quite expensive aren't they? But maybe rather than hound Gavin, I might email Debbie who we are in liaison with re P@H as she's who refunded me for Kev's neutering, so I shall inform her of his poor health. Companion Care don't have anything to do with P@H and don't seem to like them. ntg yeah pricing is really fair! I'd love to know what's causing more teeth problems in younger degus, I thought the sort of prevalence was seen in 4-5 year olds, not 12 months to 2 years.. which seem to be popping up more recently. I'll take Poppy tomorrow perhaps.. she travels fine. But Kev has to go at 9am... pick up at late afternoon. They keep him in the small carry case - would they both be a bit squashed in there all day?

They used to put Zoe and Nyota in a hamster-sized cage at my companion care vets; they left the carry case in their once to give them a hidey-hole, and sheepishly handed me a new case on "discharge".

This is why I built my carry case. It might be a little big and awkward, but it is secure for longer periods like when we decided to keep LaBarbara in it over night when she had the degloving. Mine would get through plastic in 30 minutes!

Sorry to heard about Kev em , I went though the same thing with hazel no money etc. My vets do free dental checks, when coco and hazel where both put under they checked both degus, hazel had spurs coco didn't. It cost me £79 for both degus to go under and hazel spurs removed. Even after removing them she wouldn't eat I panicked took to her to another vet,her tongue was cut. Vet said it shouldn't stop her eating tho. I tried everything to get her to eat. Back and forth to the vets till they adviced me to have her put to sleep. I didn't I tried my best I syringe fed her 3 times a day and then one day she decided to eat idk why or anything. Now outta the blue she steps on my hand to come out of the cage never did before. She knew I fighted for her and never gave up she rewarded me with trust.

I've never had a barbecue. I bought a couple of those disposable ones 20yrs ago and have never used them! It might be warm enough up here for me to take my jumper off later!

So Kev is home, they couldn't do anything because if it was more tricky Gavin wanted to do it. So he's gotta go back Tuesday. But because I paid for anaesthetic today, I won't have to pay on Tuesday for it - just for everything else lol. But I find that extremely fair of them He's got two spurs, that are fairly large which is why they're causing an issue. On his top and bottom molars on one side - so the two spurs are hitting each other meaning he can't chew properly, which could be worse. He's obviously not in pain which is why he's so chipper and still eating just slowly. Everything else re his mouth is healthy.
