What does everyone do if one of their degus is injured, but the other one still wants to play? Thunder fell of the cage during an escape attempt this morning and has hurt his foot. He is still running around, but sort of limping. I don't want him to go in the wheel (I feel he should rest) but if I take it away is that unfair on the other degu?? They have two wheels and several levels so I could block Thunders access to the wheel and let Bolt still play, but I don't want to separate them. Do people generally let the degu decide if he is feeling well enough to run??

I definitely wouldn't separate them. Bolt should cope without a wheel for a couple of days, just put in plenty of boxes and wood to keep him occupied with chewing and maybe look into doing some things on the boredom breakers/enrichment thread: deguworld.proboards.com/thread/21220/enrichment

thank you! I'm trying to move things around to make them more interested. Thunder is refusing to rest so he can't be hurting too bad. Love the treats hidden in pass the parcel from the enrichment page!

If you want to encourage rest, try something like a snugglesafe!

Hi, Thunder is so much better! Went for a hot water bottle and no wheel since Sunday. They were really happy during play time today and making that really cool noise that always makes me think they are winding up for something in a very excitable way. Thanks for all your help, hoping to re-instate the wheel in the morning.
