Thanks both and feel free to join in Em, appreciate all advice and thoughts x
Yes DC it just occurred to my boyfriend and I was like oh yeah and we discussed it and thought that it could be the source of her problem. It may not be of course and she is improving with the operation but there's a good chance its the air not circulating in the cage. There are caps in the doors and a mesh vent in the middle of the cage but that's it. An explorer cage will do the job nicely if we come to the conclusion that it is the cage. When she starts eating solids again we will put her back in and see what happens although now that she is in our living room we don't want to put her back through. So nice to have them with us. Lula is not happy as she spends all day with her nose through the cap of the cage grunting and trying to attack them so we have took away her favorite toy lol. Nina is sleeping alot and eating plenty of recovery so not bad so far. Keep tempting her with the xtra vital food but shes not ready yet. As long as shes eating though its not a worry at the moment.

Sounds worth experimenting for Lula and Nina, and probably worth putting more vents in the big cage for the other group.
Have you thought about trying a different food product? The xtravital can quickly become very unbalanced if they don't eat all of it.

Yes more vents are a must, feel stupid that we just thought of it now but better late than never. Yeah know what you mean with the selective eating lol. We have other food in but as the axtra vital has those yellow/green peas in we were trying to tempt her to eat and once shes eating she will just get the pellets again. Her weight has dropped so much but shes still taking her recovery with the meds. She's very relaxed today and seems more alert and just enjoyed a walk around the room, her first walk outside the cage since her operation.

Glad she is doing well.
OK right, tempt her with anything you can think of. Did I mention I quite like JRF Herb Special to tempt poorly goos, I think the Rosewood Naturals Herbs Plus is exactly the same too? You could try the infamous herb crocks too.

Will order some of that great. Would you believe she doesn't like Crocks, the fussy thing. Have been breaking up the peas and she has been eating them. Think if we give her manageable sizes she happy to eat but wont eat it whole so have some days ahead hand feeding her solids but we don't mind one bit!

She been having her good days and bad days moletteuk. She has managed to snap one of her front teeth so eating is abit more difficult for her at the moment. Got 2 new wooden toys to encourage her to keep her teeth trim but she's maybe been a little enthusiastic! Unfortunately shes still as nasily as ever so the meds aren't clearing that up so we're honestly having roller coaster days with her. Her sister Millie however is still crazy and has the energy of a pup so shes keeping Nina in good spirits and giving her alot of loving grooms and snuggle time.

Oh, the rollercoaster is really not fun. Sounds like you and Millie are taking the best care of her.

Jeez Nina's bottom teeth are soo long again and she's struggling to take in food for herself. Really surprised at how fast they have grown, she is snaking her tongue so guessing she has molar growth too. Just going to go straight for the operation instead of mucking around this time and worrying about whether she can come through it as I think she will cope no problem especially how great she coped last time. Her eyes are also really runny and she has looked quite poorly again this week and has been sneezing and clearing her nose quite alot so think I have all the signs I need without the vet having to tell me.

I'm sorry her teeth seem to have grown so fast.
Have you absorbed some of the dental book, Goolover? Some of the things that I noticed are that they can avoid using the incisors either because the back teeth are meeting before the front ones, or due to pain. And another thing you could discuss with the vet if she is going to need frequent treatment is more radical trimming, but this needs the level of the trim for all the teeth being judged really carefully so you don't get pivots from some teeth meeting and others not. This could have the advantage of lengthier time between trims and also since it's looking like she might have overgrown roots, it reduces the leverage and movement on the apex of each root which could reduce pain on eating.
