I'll go down there this coming week. Going to pop down and see my bestie in Cosham anyway. If nothing has been done, I'll step up the campaign!

It's such a sad case when a) it needn't have happened, and b) he was likely in so much pain

The poor love don't blame yourself for not calling sooner AMC, at least you didn't let it stand even if it wasn't a happy ending, it seems to be more than anyone else did. Hopefully now the last one will get the treatment he needs, and preferably a new home with more knowledge of their needs.

I'm so sorry for him! Looking at the picture of him, I thought he didn't look like he had long, and I am not surprised to hear he has passed. Really, I think he was so sick when you saw him that he would have needed really intense care to make it, and even then it might have just been too late. He was very, very ill. I hope they get the other in and treated, it isn't too far behind.

You did what you could - which is more than most. It wasn't your fault or responsibility. Hope those staff members feel awful, they should. I long for a world where all life is respected & valued, but it seems every day we move further away from that. Poor little guy mattered here even though we didn't know him. I don't understand why regular inspections don't form part of the licence process, should be paid for by the applicant so it wouldn't cost councils more. Probably people don't care enough about this kind of thing in general. Am glad you did though Chloe, at least you cared enough to get involved. Glad he had you on his side xx

What comes around goes around. You did all you could - they didn't.
You cannot possibly stop every animal suffering, nor can you know where suffering is taking place. So don't beat yourself up over this, there may have been nothing that could have been done for him anyway as he was too ill but hopefully his cage mate might have a chance thanks to your intervention.
The staff there are the ones who should have the guilt on their shoulders - not you. One day they will be suffering and I firmly believe that karma will kick them hard for this.

I've just been in to visit the ladies at Pets Corner. They know all about this garden centre and people complain about them in their stores all the time! They apparently keep breeding pairs elsewhere, so as soon as one is sold or died, they bring the replacement out from "storage". I know I won't be able to confirm any of this tomorrow when I go down, but it might explain why the sick ones suddenly "die" when they're reported.

I know. If it's dry tomorrow, I'll bike it - I get told the leathers make me extra scarey!
The girls in the shop say that they were pro brexit, because it means the UK can strengthen its animal cruelty laws.
