hey, has anyone heard of giving their degu cuttlebone before? i never did with my last degus, but when i bought my new ones, they suggested it as a source of calcium as i had trouble with my last 2 ignoring their mineral block. Chewy louie and Mr Nibbles love theirs though. anyone else heard of this???

If you have a good food, you will not need a cuttle or a mineral block. I would not try it.

I have given my girls cuttlebones all along. They chew on them a bit but the cuttlebones don't seem to be of much interest to them other than as a play thing. I throw out more than they ingest by far. They tend to chew on them a little then carry them around, burying them etc. Perhaps their food is of good enough quality they don't require the cuttlebone as a supplement!
