So, I have been feeding my girls Sunseed Degu food, which is great. But the pet store I buy it at is out of stock, so I'm searching for a sugar free substitute to feed until they can get more in.
I found this food called Russel Rabbit, and was wondering if it looks okay to feed degus. It is free of molasses or sugar, so it looked promising to me (it has been a real challenge to find molasses free food here!). Since it is mixed bits instead of just pellets, I could also pick out anything that isn't good for them.
Ingredients:
Dehydrated Alfalfa Pellet, Whole Oats, Ground Whole Wheat, Flaked Corn, Flaked Field Peas, Flaked Whole Wheat, Chopped Alfalfa Hay, Flaked Naked Oats, Heat Processed Soybeans, Ground Locust Bean, What Middlings, Flaked Carrots, Ground Oats, Oat Middlings, Linseed Meal, Dicalcium Phosphate, Natural Flavorings, Soybean Oil, Ground Limestone, Yeast Extract, FD & C Yellow #6, Vitamin E Supplement, Chicory Extract, Zinc Oxide, Choline Chloride, Ferrous Sulfate, Nicotinic Acid, Manganese Oxide, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Copper Sulfate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Sodium Selenite, Vitamin A Supplement, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (source of vitamin B6), Menadione Nicotinamide Bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity), Thiamine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Calcium Iodate, Cobalt Carbonate.
If it isn't okay, would it be possible to just give them hay for a while (I make sure they always have some available anyway) until I can get the Sunseed again?
Thanks in advance for any input
