You mean bedding? I used hemp bedding (actually I have no degus): Often I mixed it with hay and straw.

I used those wood pellets as well for a while, then one of our degus starts eating those and i red it could be dangerous because those pellets are swelling up the degu stomach Others say those sharps edges of the pellets can harm the degu feet.

Yes, yes. This wood pellet. I use it for 6 years. Koszatniczkom from him, nothing ever happened. I do not see the changes on the legs. From what I know in Poland can only get pellets, sawdust and hay. Sawdust irritate the respiratory system and eyes. Hay is the primary food yet. They should have him in a cage all the time. How to eat what is in your urine?
So what do you recommend?

Well there is another solution I used especially at the beginning: shredded paper What's about online shops? In Germany they are widely used among degu owners. By the way, there is also the possibility of dustfree sawdust. Newspaper at the ground, covered with a layer of straw and hay. Another idea if you can buy dustfree sawdust, that might also be a good solution. Then a pile of straw is always a good shelter for the degus, they build their burrows in the straw... that's really fun.

Sometimes I buy there. But you can see. There are only sawdust, hay and pellets. I "Bunny Bed o´Linum naturalna podsció³ka lniana Arrow" forgot about that.

Newspaper absorbs urine well. We use it for our guinea pigs for a long time. Of course we combine it with hemp bedding, but the bedding alone doesn't protect the ground enough so that the newspaper are needed as extra protection. Straw alone does hardly absorb urine, that's right and the same is true for hay. But as butters stated, it seems that zooplus have interesting beddings, e.g. this one, a linum bedding: www.zooplus.pl/shop/gryzonie/podloze_dla_gryzoni/trociny/171908It is another good solution with widespread use in the german deguforum. Linum and hemp are very popular beddings. edit: If I remember right, the "Tierwohl" sawdust is also a good bedding and I believe it is dustfree, but I'm not shure about this. I'll have a look in the forums, perhaps I can gather a bit of extra information about this bedding. edit2: yes the "Tierwohl Classic" sawdust is dustfree!

Welcome Marlena to the forum :-)
It is wonderful to see more people here on the forum from all around the world.
With the natural mix for food you do want to have a good, balanced mixture. What you will notice is the degus may not eat some plants one day but will eat them the next day. So it is ok to give diuretic herbs daily (for example dandelion). As with all changes in diet, introduce the new diet slowly to give your degus a chance to adjust to the new diet.

I just wanted to add about the newspaper as bedding. I've recently had to separate one of my girls because of fighting and she is currently in a separate cage (Thicket's cage for those that know it). This cage is very bad at keeping the bedding in as it has a very shallow tray. So I've used only newspaper and a big bundle of shredded toilet paper bedding. I have been very impressed with the newspaper. Cinammon (my separated degu) has had a fantastic times shredding the newspaper to make a huge nest. And most importantly no smells from urine and good absorbancy.
I won't replace my finacard bedding for the big cage (finacard is a shredded cardboard bedding) but if you are stuck for bedding and you do not have a big choice in the shops then I would recommend newspaper.
The newspaper is better than the pellet bedding as the pellets can swell in the degu's stomach.
