That looks great, Nubbin!! I do have a question . . . will you want the same guards around the little half levels to prevent the degus from kicking out substrate there as well? Even if you don't, you must be finding that it is making a HUGE difference in the mess they make around the cage. I think it looks really, really good!! Having it on the outside will also keep the wood in good shape for longer, as they will be less able to chew it. Well done!!

i might add guards to the shelves, i'll see how it goes. i only tend to add a very small bit of substrate to the shelves and they are quite easy to pull out and wipe down so i might not bother.

the buggers still seem to have managed to get poos all over the floor though, but I would recommend it, was extremely cheap

I dont know how they do it?? lol the poos seem to appear from everywhere?.. just when you think you have sorted it! there is another one.. i swear they sit and think right... come on lets see where we can throw it now to wind her up !! and yes it is sat there on my hallway floor. me inspecting the cage to search out exactly where it has come from xx
