since 9am my goo (dougal) has been doing a high pitched squeak with his ears right back. I check around to see what might have spooked him but its nothing?? No cats or people around and I was asleep myself. Is he in pain or something?? I'm rally worried. I seem to have managed to calm him down, I spoke to him softly and gave him a tickle behind the ears and he groomed my hand a bit. Is he going to be ok?? The other 2 degus just ignore him lol!!

Dougal will calm himself down eventually. I've had my girls do this before. It may be that something has spooked him or he's generally uneasy about something.
By the way, they're all males aren't they? No chance of it being a mating bark instead? Or he could have been, erm, 'thoroughly cleaning himself!' which can sometimes produce the mating bark. This will go on for about 3 hours (I believe).
EDIT: Just reread your post properly, it's probably not the mating bark if it's high pitched and ears flat back.

I know it sounds crazy but I had this with my daisy for a while, especially during the night. One night she was so scared she took an hour to calm down! Anyway, with some help from the forum we deduced that she was having nightmares!! poor baby. We put a nightlight in there and she's never done it since! Strange but true.

Maybe! It could be other things but it just sounded like daisy's unexplained panics. Hope he's doing ok!

My Ernies just started doing the same thing! I think he's upset himself though because he decided to attack and destroy his hammock (and he loves his hammock) lol, good job I've got a massive order coming from fuzzbuts! lol
