This is one of my new little guys - Einstein. Question for all of you guys that breed and have experience with different ages. Would this little goo look like about 6-7 weeks old? Older, younger? I'm too impatient to wait until tuesday to ask my manager for the breeder contact to find out (or if she already knows ages and just didn't write it down). Thanks!

Einstein is a lovely degu. Some of the members here have experience with breeding and have seen and even photographed degus at various stages of life. I can only give you an estimation, but to me, Einstein would indeed seem to be around 6-7 weeks old. Even without an adult degu in the photo to compare with, you can tell he is still very small.

Such a cutie! It's kind of difficult to tell but I think he's maybe a week or so less than 6 weeks because of the way his fur sort of still stands out and the size of his head compared to his body. My degu Peridot right now has a litter that has just turned 8 weeks old and they are definitely older-looking than Einstein. Curious to find out how old he actually is.

thanks guys! Einstein was the smallest out of the 14 we got in and he doesn't even have his "einstein" hair anymore (it was a bit more fluffy on the top of his head. His brother was the next smallest and isn't much bigger but doesn't have as much of the fluffy fur on his body.

I would also say about 5 weeks or so. He seems a lot smaller than my girls when I got them at 6 weeks, even smaller than Poppy who was quite tiny.

my babies are now 8 weeks old, comparing yours to mine, einstein is definitely smaller but not all that much id say.. i would put an approx age on him as being between 5 and 6 weeks.. my reason is, if you look at his nose, just above there is a little line, mine all had that line between those weeks of age. its kinda cute and i was hoping they would keep it as..............hubby tells me i also have that line...lol my bro used to call me miss piggy because of it i would imagine that line disappearing in a week or two! lovely baby goo!!!
