I have one of the 'Karlie Wonderland' wheels which my degus have had plenty of fun chewing at - had to take it out of the cage because there is now a gap where they have chewed into the running surface itself (before, it was the edge surrounding it). It goes about an inch in.
As I'm waiting for the new wheel and it's been a while, thought I might try to temporarily fix the wooden wheel so they can use it in the meanwhile. Trouble is I can't think how. If I use sellotape to fix a piece of cardboard over the gap, would that be ok? I'm guessing it wouldn't be though. Does anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem, it is a brilliant wheel though. I tried fixing mine but nothing seemed to work. I thought that by using cardboard from a toilet tube that it would curve into shape but it was difficult to fix on. I hope you have more luck!

I know that your wheel is now on the way butit would be a shame to waste this wheel. Could you use some thick card then attach using small nuts and bolts. You can get domed but almost flat nuts.

Ah, good idea! I wouldn't know how to go about doing that but I'm sure Simon (fiance) knows. Thanks Oh, the wheel arrived around midday by the way, and it's great! I think there's room for both the degus to run on it too (will be putting it in tonight) so that'll be nice. Thank you!
