Hi there,
As you may have seen in my previous thread, part of the new cage build will be a tank for them to dig in...
What do i need to put in it for them to dig in? I seen some reports that say sand? is that like the dust bath sand? or should i be letting them dig in something else?

I am just trying to figure out the same thing. Am thinking of using coconut fiber. It's usually used for reptiles in terrariums. Haven't tried it yet. Also I wonder if the random garden soil can be used. Would it be too messy?

It depends whether you want to just give them an opportunity to dig a bit deeper than in their normal layer of bedding, or a substrate in which they can dig themselves a little burrow. For the latter it has been suggested to use equal parts of peat, clay and straw, but I never found good sources for this. Alternatively, you could try what I use in my digging pit of about the same dimensions: several pieces of carpet tube (which you can get for free in any carpet shop) and lots of straw.
