Well, following the mating that happened 21 days after giving birth Nancy is without doubt pregnant again - she's huge and if she sits still long enough I can see kicks and wiggles on her sides. I will weigh her later, if I can without stressing her too much. 86 days takes us to next saturday (12th), so I'm expecting her to birth sometime between then and the following weekend. She's massive already but then Dorothy was and she only had three so I'm not going to make any guesses as to numbers.
I do wonder if she was doing less of the feeding as she and Billie were nesting communally. I know she was feeding them all as I saw them both feeding them regularly but it's just a thought.
4 months ago I had 4 female degus (or so I thought) since then I have had 5 pregnancies from 3 degus with 13 babies born so far and however many Nancy has this time!
I would never have chosen to have babies and certainly not so many but I have had no trouble finding them good homes and have thoroughly enjoyed having babies around.
ETA: I've just weighed her and she's few grams under 400g already. Dorothy was 390g a few hours before she birthed and Nancy has at least a few days to go still!

WOW!!! She is huge!! Poor Nancy. I expect you are giving her some extra foods to be boosting her reserves. I look forward to hearing about the new arrivals once they are born!!

My oh My that is big.. pumpkin weighed in around 370 a couple of days before she gave birth and had 5 pups.... You really have had your hands full there with 5 pregnancies in 4 months.. and been lucky to find good homes for the pups... I didn't realize you've had so many pregnancies i thought it was just Nancy...!!! Can't wait to find out how many she has .... ;D

Yes she's massive - way bigger than any of the others have been!
The 5 pregnancies occurred because we were totally unaware we had a boy until the other three were already pregnant, one had birthed and got pregnant again - that accounted for 4 pregnancies and then I had Norman in with Nancy after she birthed (having carefully separated them for the first few days) believing her to be safe for the first few weeks.
I will be very interested to see how many she has, I will try to weigh her again on friday as I think saturday is the earliest she's due to give birth. Her belly is tight as a drum and she's almost as wide as she is long now!

This is Nancy 83 days after mating so with somewhere between 3 and 10 days left before she gives birth. I hope for her sake it's sooner rather than later as she's huge! She still runs in the wheel and leaps about the cage though - I could barely climb the stairs by the end of my last pregnancy! ETA the picture!
