Sorry, your question here seems to have been slightly over looked!
A few suggestions:
Have you got a nice big wheel for them? Or a flying saucer. At least 30cm in diameter. Most goos love to run so giving them a lovely big wheel will encourage them to exercise.
Something else that may help is if you can give them extra time out of the cage so that they can run around and possibly shift a little bit of the extra weight.
Have you actually weighed them? Might be an idea so we can see what we are dealing with. Last time I weighed mine they ranged between about 240g and 290g, all fully grown and not overweight in my opinion.
What are you feeding them now? The cheese treats are a definite no no, but the sunflower seeds can be fed VERY sparingly if they do have a bit of weight to shift, or not at all until they have slimmed down a bit.
Hope that helps...

I really hate people who get pets who have no idea what they are and what they need.Good Job you rescued them.
Firstly I would throw away the cheese rat treats or give them to someone who has rats if you don't. Also the sunflower hearts are ok as a treat now and then but they are high in fat so a few every now and then is ok. Problem with hearts is they have no shell, and part of the excitement Degus get over eating sunflower seeds is breaking through the shell to eat the heart. I wouldn't use them just because of this reason but it's up to you.
I would weigh them first, healthy Degus are usually around 220- 290g but this can be subjective.
Like what Kins said, a good solid wheel atleast 30cm is what is needed or a Flying saucer.

Timothy Hay is a must, meadow and oat hay are also great, which they should eat fairly well for you but some degus are oddly uninterested. What kind of food are you planning to feed them? Have you looked at this thread? deguworld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=food&action=display&thread=8933 There are GREAT ideas and food projects on the go that are featured here. These will be excellent, even used only in part as a supplement, while you adjust to the needs of your degus. JR Farms has great food options for Degus, look them up on the Internet.
