I agree it is completely usuitable!! Makes me very very angry!! I have written a reply but it's under review right now, so here's what I wrote: This cage is NOT suitable for degus (and even chinchillas and rats). Reasons outlined below:
- The cage is far too small for degus. They need a very minimum base of 100 x 50 cm with at least two floors if not more. - Sawdust is unsuitable as bedding material for degus as it can lead to respiratory complications. - Wire base is very bad for all rodents as they can develop a very painful condition called bumblefoot. - Any plastic in a cage is a definite no for degus as they can easily chew out of it, not to mention ingesting large quantities of plastic. - The Vitakraft stick (which is the Chinchilla calcium stick) contains honey and this is very bad for degus as they are prone to diabetes and need a low sugar diet.
Please do not consider buying this for your degu, chinchilla or even rats.

It's obviously a stupid cage for degus, but I still can't believe the minimum cage size that's being recommended for rats. I have ten of them, and as soon as you put them in a bigger space they really love to flip about! Plus, they need a paper base bedding
