I bought two new degus on Sunday (you might see my other post about the suitability of their cage!). I realise I haven't had them very long yet but have a few concerns. One is super confident and is obviously the dominant one and is always out and running/climbing about. The other is very quiet and spends most of his time sat on top of his wooden house although he will come and take a few oats off my hand if the other one isn't around. I have found him climbing about on a few occasions but generally every time he attempts to go anywhere and the other degu moves anywhere near he jumps and runs back to his house, almost like he's scared of him. Is this just settling in behaviour and will it improve? I hate to think that he's sat there scared to move. Would getting another one from the same litter help or could that make the situation worse?

It may well help. I find that with males, three is a little more stable than two . . . but that is only my experience. I think that you would probably see them a little more settled with a third.

That's what happened with Joe and Olly, oddly after Joe's tail was horribly removed he took the role of dominant for a while, but it went back to normal. I wouldn't worry but if you want a quick solution then go with Deguconvert's idea

Ok thanks. I might go to the pet shop i got them from at the weekend and pick up another 1 or 2 as my cage is plenty big enough.
