My degu s had a full on fight resulting in Jabba falling into bottom section of his cage. Jabba is blind. Today he seems to have taken a turn to ths worse. He's not eating or drinking (not to my knowable) he's just laying on the top floor of his cage. He's breathing heavy. Not sure what to do. I've separated them, although they seem to be ok with each other. I'm worried. Please help.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that one of your degus is unwell. In this situation the only thing that I can recommend is a visit to the vets. Jabba is not eating or drinking and his breathing is laboured...these are clear signs of quite a serious problem. Hopefully a vet will be able to tell you what the problem is and offer a solution.
I hope that Jabba feels better soon, please let us know how you get on.

As Kat said, Jabba seems to have serious problems. I know it can be difficult on a Sunday, but you need to get him seen by a vet as quickly as possible. I hope it will turn out well, please keep us updated.

I'm sorry to say Jabba died last night. We had made him an appointment for today. Although I dint think they could have helped much. This now leave us with chewie all on his own. We went out to get him some new toys and comfort thIngar. He seems more then happy at the moment. Do you have any advice?

I'm so sorry to hear about Jabba. A sad day in your house I'm sure. RIP Jabba...
As far as understand it, people recommend that you let the remaining goo grieve for a few days and then the best plan of action is to introduce 2 young pups to said remaining goo and go from there.

Oh, I don't like it when I read about degus dying. I'm really sorry to hear about Jabba.
I would do as Kins said and let Jabba 'grieve' for a while. I've read that some degus can take a couple weeks or so and others just days, so let Jabba tell you when he's ready for more goos. (sorry to sound all mushy but degus are so expressive that it's normally quite easy to judge these things by their behaviour).
Also I would re-arrange the cage so as to break any potential future falls. Hammocks are good for this.

Thank you for your kinda words. Chewie seems more then happy at the momen, with he's new toys. As for getting new goos I'm not too sure, pets@home only have females. I'm going to play this one carefully and see how he goes. Very, very sad day.
