I have a quick question....
I've had my two degus for a year and a half and I have recently noticed that one sometimes pulls the other by it's tail. She does this with her teeth and the other degu makes a shrill squeak. She doesn't appear to have any marks on her tail though...
I just wanted to check if this behavior is dangerous or not. As I've read everywhere that degus can loose the tail I'd rather be sure if this is an issue or not.

No . . . it's mostly bossy behavior. It means . . . "get out of that spot, I want it!" It's really very normal, and nothing to worry about. I'm not surprised the other shrieks, it must be a nasty indignity to experience. LOL! But . . . no damage done, she's going to be fine, if a little grumpy for a moment.

As DC says, this is a pretty common occurence. Nothing to really worry about. Just goos being goos
