Hi guys, sorry I haven't posted for a while, I've been busy starting university this week so I didn't have time. Basically Taco and Bobby are both getting done, The two have not yet accepted each other back into their lives after the big fight they had over 3 months ago now. So I'm getting them neutered for two reasons. First reason is theirs a slim chance it might drop their testosterone levels which in tern I hope will make them less agressive towards each other, I realise this probably won't make a difference as the problem is psychological more than anyting but if it works then great. Second reason is if I'm forced to adopt them out, It will offer more options such as getting them seperately paired up with females or males... anyway I hope it goes well.

I hope all goes very well for them, and for you, Degualot. I hope with you that it will make enough difference for them, that it will help them re-bond with each other!

thanks, I know, Hope it works, don't expect it to work overnight but i'll give them a few more weeks after the operation and then try some more introductions. If they fail, may have to rehome them. But that's long down the road at this point, not giving up just yet.. thanks for the support though

well the boys have just came back home a couple of hours ago after castration. They are both very sore, I feel so sorry for them. you can tell the way they carefully walk that they are in quite a bit of pain. I've got pain Killers fro them so hopefully that will help. Yeah they are both in their seperate downstairs nest boxes sleeping it off. I knew they wouldn't make it up the levels to their hammocks so I made sure their nest boxes were full of soft fluffy paper bedding.
well I just got to watch their wounds, it looks awful where they were cut, stiches and shaved. But this is what I thought was best. Atleast now If they can't ever get back they have the option of pairing up with females.
Oh well.

Aw, poor little loves! I will be thinking of you all, and very much hoping the best and quickest of healing. You've done what you believe is the best of choices for them in all respects, well done.

thanks everyone, They are now up and about and are actually going on their wheel, they're eating, they are enjoying a few sunflower seeds and some oats to keep their strength up. They Look ok, but were not very happy boys this morning, faces all puffed up and moody, not that I blame them however they can smell the pain killers a mile away and hate them, it's liquid and I just can't get it into their mouth, The vet suggested putting it into a treat, but not sure which one would work best, she even said you can squirt it on their nose, not sure how that works.

ok both boys are ok accept I fear Bobbys wound might have opened up a little so I'll have to take him back to the vets, there is some scabing in the area so he's not losing any blood but I'm afraid of infection.
On a positive note, I put them both in the bathtub with a sand bath and vanilla essense and they didn't fight, no sign of agression what so ever, which really shocked me. They even ignored each other enough to eat treats so you can tell they are not worried about each other, over the many failed attempts they wouldn't accept treats when it battle mode. This time they actually started grooming each other, so good signs, but I want to take it slowly, so after only 5 minutes I took them both out and put them back in their seperate cages. I'm taking it in steps because last time they made it to 8 minutes and then all of a sudden got in a big fight. They are both friendly this time, so they get 5 minutes, tommorrow I will try for 10, and so on until I get a good 30 minutes without a fight then I'll look into putting them in the same cage.
Anyone got any good advice about that, should I swop them every couple of days into each others cage, that way, they get use to both parts... like I say, I was really happy for the 5 minutes they had together today.. even for just 5 minutes it gave me some hope it's possible they will get back together... ;D

If they are very newly neutered, I have some concerns. If they begin to box with each other, stop things right away. I'm afraid they could really hurt each other, possibly opening up the surgery site or causing internal wounds in the same area. I'm really glad they are showing positive signs of getting along, that is very hopeful!! Just be really careful to watch over their surgical wounds.
