Hi,
I brought a lava ledge to go in my homemade cage but found the wood frame deeper than the bolt.
Is there another way to connect the shelf?
Thanks

That's a tough one as you can't really remove the bolt from the lava ledge to even try putting another one in it's place. hmmmm let me think have you still got the receipt I would take it back, I don't see away around this problem. Without it being more bother than it's worth. sorry I know not the answer you were looking for but I think it's all you can do. Lava blocks are really designed for mesh cages which is why the have a very short bolt... sorry

Thanks, I thought that might be the case. I can give it to my hamster instead

If you have a drill with a bit that is a little bit wider across than the width of the wing nut that will tighten it, you can create a depression in the wood that will then allow the bolt to reach through far enough to be attached. You just need to be very careful not to drill all the way through the wood panel. If your wood is say 2 cm deep, make your depression only 1 cm in depth.
The type of drill bit I am thinking of is the kind a carpenter would use to create a hold for a door knob or such thing. Does this make sense? It is a drill bit with fins on either side, so to speak.

Hi, is there a chance you can fix it to the ventilation of your cage? If its made out of mesh or something similar?

Hi, is there a chance you can fix it to the ventilation of your cage? If its made out of mesh or something similar? That is what I would have suggested. It won't be a ledge then but the goos will still be able to chew it. Or perhaps swap it for a lava swing. I have 3 of these for my goos and they all hang from the mesh roof...

I am going to give the ledge to my hamster as I was going to get her one anyway and get the goo's a lava swing. Thanks
