I adopted out several rats this weekend which freed up another 695. I removed the side panels and connected the two 695's together, made an additional 3/4 shelf and a coroplast base pan, covered the wire floors of the running levels with coroplast and lino and moved the two adults and three babies in. Today I think the babies are 2 girls and 1 boy which is unfortunate. Degus are not common pets in my area so whomever I adopt him out to is going to have a difficult time finding him a friend. I will probably talk to my vet and look into getting him neutered when he's big enough so he can stay with the girls. The new cage is 60 x 24 x 36 (inches) Right side: Left side Exploring

That looks really good! You've given them some excellent running room. I love the last picture here . . . baby getting some attention from Mom . . . or Auntie. SO CUTE!
I think your idea to have him neutered is a good one. With the new information we have been receiving from our knowledgeable German members, that is possible by 12-16 weeks of age. Just make sure that your vet researches on Degus before performing the surgery. Knowing that the male testies on a degu are inside the abdominal wall is crucial to how the proceedure is performed.

Cage looks great. Like DC says, lots of lovely running room, excellent.
I like the picture of the little gooey peeping out of the coke box, adorable.
