my oldest Eric is starting to find it very hard to run in his solid metal wheel, he slides around and it seems like maybe his nails on his back feet are too long? how long is too long and does anyone else trim their goos nails?

A little bit of sand paper in the wheel? Only for a little while he's running on it, don't want a footless Eric! Not sure about this idea and I've never used it, but it might be worth a shot?
