Hey everyone, I was wandering if you could give me some advice on a problem im having.
Past: I used to own 4 Degus (all brothers) all about 5months old. They lived together happily for about 1month, then all of a sudden one of the goos became extremely violent and savaged one of his brothers. I had this degu removed from the group. I also seperated the injured goo for a few days due to his severe wounds. When it came to returning the injured goo to his brothers, they will no longer accept him, also acting agressively towards him.
The past 3months I have been trying to get these 3 goos back together again, but the 2 groups just dont get along. Currently the 2goos are in a large wooden home I have built for them, the injured goo is in a medium sized wire cage on his lonesome and the agressive goo has found a new home and is living happily with other goos.
Present: Just recently the injured goo is craving human attention more and more, wanting to spend all the time it can with us, it spends hours running on its wheel or just sitting in its hammock. I have been advised to not take this as a good sign as it shows he is extremely lonely. My local pet store has just recently stocked a fresh batch of 8 baby Degus and I was thinking about getting one as a friend for the injured goo. My question is, wether or not this is a good idea, if the injured goo rejects the new baby the baby will have absolutely nowhere to go, what are my chances of getting these goos together / is there any other good suggestions you can give me?
Many thanks
