Have wanted some 'goos' for years and now finally have my own 4 walls so I can start my degu adventure! It would be helpful to have some 2nd hand equipment as I have nothing at the moment but I'm more than happy to buy everything I need for them if only the critters are available! I have kept similar rodents (Jirds) on the past so I'm not a total novice! ;D

Well done on choosing to rehome rather than buy. I think that you will fall in love with any degus you get very quickly as they are such lovable creatures.
Can you please let us know where you are located and if/how far you would be willing to travel.

I have two male degus (about two years old) that are rescues who need a new home. Where abouts are you? Edit: They are ofocurse free! They come with a small thickets house cage and will need a new cage, however they have LOTS of toys and will come with any food you might need for the first week for them I am in the midlands.

Thankyou for your replies I didn't expect anyone to respond to me if I'm honest! I wanted to re home rather than buy as there seem to be lots who need it! I'm in the midlands (Worcester) and am willing to travel 1-2 hours (summer hols so have some time!!) hope that helps?! Also as I am however a novice on this forum could you let me know how to exchange e-mails etc to arrange pick ups? @aime would your boys be able to mix with other newbies or are they happier on their own? I'm not too sure how the whole 'introduction' thing goes (in case we end up taking on more)

So exciting that you can finally get your own goos I have two males who need a forever home, they would come with their cage & all it's accessories, all food & treats and any advice you might need. They have only ever lived with each other so I couldn't say for definite if they would be able to mix with others. Let me know if you're interested (send me a private message or reply here) since I'm down the road in Cheltenham & would be happy to deliver them x

Hi all! Many thanks for the replies, me and my fella are mow the proud owners of three gorgeous (and very cheeky) girls!! We rehomed them from the RSPCA where they has been for over 10 months. Neither of us could believe they had been there so long!! They are funny and friendly and we are getting them used to us gently, although as I said they are so friendly despite the upset in their lives! So for now at least I've got my very happy hand full of lots of furry fun! :-D Thanks again! Vicki

I think I saw them on this site! There were loads of posts about them from the rspca, about how they'd been in the shelter for ages. Correct me if i'm wrog, but were they called Polly, Rose, and Salsa, or Tik, Tac, and Toe? I'm goiing to look like such an idiot if i'm wrong, but i was just wondering, because the goo's i mentioned have been in the rescue for almost a year I would have loved to adopt them myself, but they were about 4 hours away so not really an option. Lol Great to know that you've given some rescue goo's a good home Got any pictures?

Hey amie! Thanks! Squeaky and bubbles, yeah it was the girls on here, polly, Rose, and salsa. They were so funny and friendly when we met them we both fell for them instantly! We went to see them on the off chance as we were in the area (sort of) and that was it! So cage bought and lots of treats and toys and we were off to collect them. 3 weeks on (and now renamed Gertrude, Rosie ratfink (the shy one-not now though), and Nancy the nibbler) and they are very happy and busy, have found out they have a fetish for rice crispids above all other chew toys and treats. And as amie will probably guess we've had plenty of escapes in the process of getting to know them! They have a way to go to truly build trust but they have come so far already especially since they were rescued from an overcrowded house where they were being kept in upturned bins!! Poor girls, at least they seem happy now! Pics to come in time (they don't like cameras or phones-get squeaked at so avoiding for the moment!). Thanks everyone for the kind wishes! I now need a bigger house so I can add to the family! :-D
