I'm looking for sandbox for a while now and I dont find anything near that what I want. So if anyone seen something like that in shops that deliver international, I'll be glad to take a look. I don't think I'd succeed in homemade box since I'm not good in that.
It shouldn't be made from plastic, glass would be best. It should have a small hole for exit and one side removable for cleaning. I'd like to be large, but not so high, so I can put it in the cage.
The idea is to put a bit sand in and try to teach my messy girls to use it as bathroom. For now I saw they really like to poo in their bath sand (and everywhere else) so it may work. Thanks a lot.

Hi, I use a goldfish bowl vase (about £6 I think it cost) and it's brilliant! I would certainly recommend it

potnoodle94, this is close to what I think about, the wooden part would be chewed soon but I think I can replace it in that case. Thanks a lot! Goldfish bowl is good idea as well, but I'm not buying it because I think they should stop selling that for fishes and keeping fishes in

I totally agree but it's a vase, not a goldfish bowl Attachments:

I found a perfect solution. I went to glazier, told him what I want and tomorrow I'll get exactly the same what I had in mind. I will put here a picture when it's done. I hope girls will learn to use it properly

For now they have it outside the cage. It looks like they like it and had no problems to find opening. Sefi wasn't sure if it's safe at first, but now both like to go in. They burrow in it a lot and lick glass as well. it's funny to see them in there licking, like on the last pic.
Today I'll clean the cage and put it in so they can decide what will do with it. I hope litter train will make an effect.

wow thats awesome!! But on the subject of a sand bath for a syrian hamster, I spent ages looking for one for my sons long haired syrian, that would fit in a rotastak cage. In the end and I comprimised and settled for a cheap plastic bird bath that you hook onto bird cage bars, i left off the bit of plastic that you need to hook it on. I found it in The Range and cost me £1.99, so far it seems to be working.

They are a good size for hamsters aren't they? I use those for their toilets. I don't know if it is all adsa's but the 2 closest to me are selling off the rotastak stuff cheaply at the moment. I wonder if the pet department is getting a wilkingson style make over.
aya0aya: How are the degus enjoying the litter box? It looks really good. Did the glazer smooth the edges of the hole?

Kat - yes our Asda was too, I saved myself a fortune! but now after asda and buying lots of ebay I have enough Rotastak to house another 2 hamsters, and ive already housed 3!! I thought getting the long haired hamster a sand bath would help him, Im having difficulty in finding bedding that doesnt get tangled in his fur! currently we are trying Carefresh.

Here's an update.
The litter box is used for storing food. Every part from the bowl that don't like that much to eat it immediately is carried in the "litter box" No way to convince them that is meant for the bathroom. But well, at least they have much fun burrowing inhere. And I have much fun watching too.
